The wing nut on the one I bought is flaking apart - sometimes in chunks. I don't think I've even had the thing for 6 months.

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Design I bought this to replace one that I had installed about 15 years ago. I had this one almost totally installed when I realized that the nut/lock wire that holds the female threaded end for the strainer was not attached on the bottom. I disassembled what I had installed to gain better access to installed the nut/lock wire. It would not stay on - poor manufacturing tolerances and overall poor design. I went and bought a very similar unit at another hardware store that had a better design for the same price. It is installed with no issues. April 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Turn for the Best The spin lock strainer has proved to be a great addition to our food preparation and kitchen clean up. The turning mechanism is easy to use and provides a secure seal that is very efficient and attractive in the drain position. It looks modern and was not a problem to install. Would highly recommend October 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Super Strainer The old strainer never worked right.... it was closed when it should be open and Vise versa. This one stays in at all times, and if you want to hold water in the sink the slightest turn and it works perfectly. November 4, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor machine work on threads - one defective Other than the fact that during the threading process they cut through at the plumbing outlet the stuff works good. I tried to reseal multiple times before I figured it out that the water was not leaking at the seals it was going right through the pipe fitting and into the nut and out with no resistance. I like the product design but there isn't a lot of meat there to Hog deep threads into. I'll know to look in the box with a magnifying glass next time. May 28, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disintegrating wing-nut I now have a collection of 3, which I had to buy at the unit cost of almost $15, only for a replacement wing-nut. I have looked everywhere but cannot find a stainless or better metal wing nut to fit the stem. Now I need to replace the whole assembly with a less expensive slotted stem style. June 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! 3½" is an unusual size but that is what I needed in my mobile home. This strainer fit the bill perfectly! I have a double basin sink and the strainers were probably the originals and very worn out. I found this strainer on line and they had them in stock. So I rushed right out and bought two of them. Easy to install, looks great and the spin-lock is a great feature. January 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great The spinlock sing strainer is exactly what I wanted. With the spinlock feature I can hold strainer in place and yet let water pass through to the drain, thus eliminating the opportunity for debris to be captured by the strainer before it goes into the drain. With the spinlock feature it keeps the strainer stationery and securely in place. I would suggest this style to everyone. It is without a doubt the best priced value sink strain drainer assembly I have ever used. This is a big statement but in fact this is a great product. Paul Atzemis July 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great I can't say anything about how long this will last since I've only had it a few weeks. But it was a lot cheaper than the 'big brand' names - actually pretty inexpensive. Of all the Glacier Bay strainers, this one had a noticeably thicker flange, and appeared to be a bit better quality. The threads were well cut, clean, and overall machining was very good. Yes, the instructions are printed reeeaaaalllly small. But it's so very simple of an installation, you really don't need instructions anyway. It took me about 5 minutes to install this after I removed my old damaged strainer assembly. The lock ring was easy to tighten by hand. Everything fit perfectly, and it was completely leak free. One minor issue - there is a lock nut on the strainer shaft, and on mine it was totally loose. It had to be tightened; if not, the spinner would not seat properly. Make sure you check it. Other than that, no problems. The spinner works great, and the trick is that you do not tighten it. It plainly says on the instructions not to overtighten. You simply spin it closed, and that's all it takes to block the water. The nut handle is cast aluminum and can break if you try to make it tight. If it takes more than one finger to un-spin it, then it's too tight. The strainer basket fits perfectly in the strainer body, the holes are good size, and the whole thing looks great. It's nice that there's no rubber or plastic, less stuff to gather bacteria and it can be sterilized easily if needed. March 2, 2015
