Three years after a complete renovation the kitchen sink drain rusted and cracked away from the drain pipe causing water to drain directly into my kitchen cabinet. The threads disintegrated into powder. I went to HD for a replacement and learned that the replacement was not stainless steel either. Sadly, desperate to use my sink again, I installed it with every expectation that it will rust out again. By the way, though HD provided a refund for the part it is 6 months later and the part is still on its shelves.
Advice- bring a magnet and see if it picks up the strainer. If so, don't buy it. It is not stainless steel.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ticked tail piece nut keeps popping loose
I bought two of these for a new kitchen sink. The drain sealed to the sink fine. However when installing the tail piece the nut would tighten then pop loose, even when I tightened by hand. I couldn't tighten it enough to keep the drain from leaking without the nut popping. I thought maybe the nut was bad, so I replaced it with a new one. I had the same issue. It is like the threaded portion on the basket is too small for the nut to stay attached securely. I fought with this for a couple of hours before giving up, removing the drains from the sink and buying new drains at another retailer. That solved the problem. I will think twice before buying another Glacier Bay product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Verified Reviewer It didn't fit on a cast iron sink and a part was missing.
I'll have to bring it back to HD because it could not be installed on my cast-iron sink. I presume it would go on a steel sink but the bottom of my cast iron sink is so thick there were not enough threads left to install the tail piece after installing the lock nut. Also, the box instructions indicate that a rubber and a fiber washer is included. There was no fiber washer with mine.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dilinger Didn't fit (wasn't long enough)
I tried installing this on my sink, but it didn't fit. I was able to install the lock nut, but the remaining threads weren't enough to install the slip nut. I looked at other reviews on here and saw that others had a similar problem. I ended up returning it and getting Glacier Bay's 4.5 in. Plumber's Specification Sink Strainer (model #02545, SKU #535069), with an assembled height of 4in (instead of 3in). That one was long enough, and worked perfectly.

These parts are normally overlooked as simple parts, but I know how looks show up in the finished product when these details are.
