Does this connection create a water tight seal?

Nothing on this page tells whether any water tight seal gets created. It looks a bit sloppy, so I'm wondering if some sort of caulk or adhesive is used for joining sections of 4" polyethelene. How water tight is the joint??
Asked by: donnyork
Not water tight. Sloppy snap connection.

will this fit over the female end of a 10" section of pipe that has male/female ends

Asked by: ed
These go inside the 4" corrugated pipe. They are designed to fail. Try one inside your pipe before you buy.

Why choose this "coupler" instead of the "connector" from same manufacturer?

http://www.homedepot.com/p/FLEX-Drain-4-in-Polypropylene-Universal-Pipe-Connector-ADP53302/202745391 versus . . . http://www.homedepot.com/p/4-in-Polyethylene-Slip-External-Snap-Coupler-0412AA/100181960?MERCH=REC-_-NavPLPHorizontal1_rr-_-NA-_-100181960-_-N The less fancy of the two actually has a higher price. They both appear to operate almost identically. Anybody see why to choose one over the other?

4 in. Polyethylene Slip External Snap Coupler is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Try before you buy I purchased a 4 in. x 100 ft. Corex Drain Pipe Solid to extend my gutter drains, had everything ready to install. I did not notice how these were made, guess it is my fault for believing since this was the only 4" coupler my local Home Depot sold, it would be the correct one. IT DOES NOT FIT!. The coupler 1st will not lock inside the pipe as the ones I have used before, they are extremely thin and get all bent up before you can install them. Made by a different manufacture than the pipe. The coupler sold by the local Home Depot do not even look like the one shown.

I could only buy one coupler at HD as the shelf and stock room were empty. Went to Lowes and bought the other 19 I needed. The one I purchased at HD worked as advertised which is what I expected. Not a complicated, high tech item.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will not hold keeps coming off pipe The slightest pull causes this to come off the pipe. The tabs meant to engage the ridges on the corrugated pipe do not hold

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A little loose It didn't work on the old 4" corrugated pipe that was in my yard when I bought my house. It keeps coming off. It works ok on new 4" corrugated pipe that I bought at Home depot but it is not a tight fit. It is a little loose.
