What happens is that there are two plastic sheets with holes in them that slide against each other to adjust the air flow. In hot furnace heat, and especially if they are mostly or totally closed, the heat will weld them together and lead to an inability to adjust the airflow. All metal designed registers are much better, if not as fancy looking. Read Less

I got this 4x10 one and like the style. Now I need a 5" x 10" to match. I thought other grille was 4 x 10 also but opening in tile is oversized to 10 x 5.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Looks good but... I wanted a grate that had an authentic antique look. The look of these grates is the best thing they offer. They do not allow airflow direction change and they cause a lot of noise when the air kicks on. I suppose they are not very aerodynamic. We actually had to go back to our old metal grates on a few of our supplies because the noise was very annoying. I would not recommend. September 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product at a great value! Contacted local HVAC company about black floor registers and was told they could custom order them and would be very expensive. Recommended checking online or local stores. My wife went to Home Depot and found these. They were a fraction of the cost and look better than the custom order ones would have. April 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Apperance I purchased several of these to replace all the registers in my home after installing new hardwood flooring. They look awesome! Easy Installation. September 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good quality diffuser We use them in custom home construction. They look good and are easy to adjust. The price and quality is much better than we've found anywhere else. December 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible design. The problem with these registers is that they are made of plastic (except for the metal top). The way you adjust the air flow is that a plastic sheet with square holes slides over an identical sheet. There is NO WAY that design is going to work long. It's a bad enough design in the first place but when you add really hot furnace heat what happens is the plastic sheets weld to each other, especially if you have them in the closed airflow position. That's what happened to all mine. Now they are welded shut and won't let any airflow go through them. These are nice looking but in the end are garbage from a functional view. I would advise to stick with the traditional all metal constructed register. One thing I did read was a person saying the metal top is held on by friction to the plastic, and that when kicked will knock the top off center from the plastic part that fits in the hole. That is true, but you can realign it by pulling the top off the plastic bottom (it's held on by two tabs at either end) and putting it back on. It's kind of tricky to center it but it can be done. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect fit and look Recently replaced carpet with a hardwood and these blend in perfectly. I love the elegant scroll design and they fit like a glove. The hardwood installer wanted to charge us $60 for a custom box and I like these just as much if not more than what he was offering for a much better price. I would recommend. February 23, 2016
