I have some of these in my home but I can't tell if they're the Brushed Nickel or the Antique Brass. They definitely aren't a sliver color, more of a brass but the brushed nickel ones here look like brass color.

It's definitely a dark silver color. I purchased to match grey carpeting and it does so perfectly!

I've had them for about a month. They seem to hold up well. The cover is brass so walking on it shouldn't be a problem.

The answer is a 2 part answer.
The decorative cover plate is made of brass plated steel. This portion of the register should handle the foot traffic. I can not attest to how well the brass plating will hold up under foot traffic. I have one that does get some limited foot traffic. Over a period of 6 months it seems to still look good.

The second part of the answer deals with the non-decorative portion of the register. This is made of cheap thin plastic plates with rectangular holes in them which slide to open or close.. This portion is definitely not durable. Particularly the tab that is used to slide the register open and closed. The tab sticks up above the brass plate and therefore breaks off quite easily from foot traffic. This will require that you remove the register each time you wish to change the setting. Additionally, because of the design, airflow through the register is reduced from normal all metal registers. My guess is about 30 percent. There are other brass plated registers on the market which have the old louver design used on standard all metal registers and work better, though the construction is not much better because they also are using the same cheap plastic materials. The operating tab is not as prone of failure on the louver type register.
Since these are readily available in the stores, I strongly recommend you check them out in person before making your purchase decision. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by These registers are really the crowing touch to our newly sanded/refinished hardwood floors! These registers are easy to install, the diverter box won't rust or corrode and they are very easy to open/shut. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasantly Surprised Pleasantly surprised with the replacement register. In heavy traffic area (kitchen) and it appears it will hold up. I purchased it because my new pergo flooring "demanded" a classy looking floor register!! (Not sure if it demanded as much as I didn't like the "typical" register after putting in the new Haley Oak Pergo XP which I also purchased from Home Depot!!) October 11, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by look great with hardwood floors we had dark hardwood floors installed these were the best looking with our floors, we found some not as good looking for six times the price on other sites. The open close slide is very smooth. August 16, 2016
