Customer Questions & Answers

Can they be easily cleaned from latex/acrylic paint?

Can they be cleaned and reused a few times or each roll is single use.
Asked by: Kalifornistan
If cleaned properly (warm water and dishwashing liquid for latex paints), these rollers can be used multiple times. Thanks.

can i use this with epoxy paint

Asked by: jerry
The answer depends on the type of epoxy and the surface being covered. Most epoxy paints will have an applicator recommendation on the back of the can. Many recommend a short napped (e.g. 1/4in) high quality roller, like a white woven, but check your particular product to make sure. Thanks,

Using these rollers with latex paint.

when using these rollers on my interior doors with latex paint the roller seems to dry up while rolling. just how much paint needs to be on these rollers for them to roll out smooth?
Asked by: mario
Firstly, high density foam rollers will not hold a lot of paint because they are closed cell foam instead of open cell foam (like a sponge). That's the trade-off for a smoother finish. Several factors could be involved in the paint seeming to dry while rolling. Most likely is environmental conditions - is there a breeze? is the surface (or the back of the surface) exposed to the sun? is the surface you're painting warm or even hot? These things will speed up the drying time. Another potential factor could be the drying time for the actual paint you are using. Many of today's latex paints start getting tacky extremely fast, so rolling out smaller sections can help. Finally, is the surface you're painting at all porous? If so, it may be absorbing some of the paint causing it to dry more quickly. I hope this helps! Thanks,

Can you use with polycrilic urethane

Asked by: Shawn
Technically you can use this roller for urethanes but it is always better to brush rather than roll with these types of coatings. Rolling (especially rolling to fast) can cause bubbles in the coating that will mar the finish. If you do decide to roll, use a slow and steady hand and keep a close eye out for bubbles. If you choose to brush, use a high quality synthetic for polycrilics. Thanks,

Customer Reviews

4 in. x 3/8 in. High-Density Foam Mini-Roller Cover (5-Pack) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from These Rollers are Great! I have a major painting project going on in my large finished paneled basement: All old walnut paneling is being sanded, primed and painted a nice, neutral vanilla cream color. The first wall that I did with regular wooly rollers left fuzzes here and there -- I was not impressed! So I tried these high-density foam rollers and they were definitely the answer! Great paint pick-up, smooth application and since I was painting again the next day, I just wrapped them in a double Walmart plastic bag overnight and they were ready to go in the morning. So this 5-pack will last me for the whole project! I am very impressed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TERRIBLE True - - these rollers apply a very even coat of paint which approaches sprayed quality. However, they also shed "something", and the finished product looks and feels like it has grains of sand in it. It appears to be very small pieces of the foam. Now I have to sand the entire door and recoat using a brush this time. A real piece of JUNK.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The rollers worked very well. Paint rollers aren't very technical, but they worked very well. They are inexpensive enough that you can use them and throw them out rather than wasting a lot of time trying to clean them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Paint Roller at Excellent Price I use these mini-rollers to paint alkyd paint on my newly fabricated (DIY) kitchen cabinets frames and doors. For areas where the alkyd (expensive) paint is not necessary I use the rollers for egg shell latex and in the interiors - polyurethane sealer. So far, the mini-roller has work exceptionally well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not good the roller when used left bubbles in the paint - had to paint over it

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't work as well as other rollers I've found that foam rollers do not work as well as regular cloth rollers. It's hard to roll off the excess paint in the tray and if there is a bit too much paint on the roller, it will just smear onto the surface, without rolling. They also seem to splatter more. I do like that they get into the corners better, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Based on novice experience I like these smaller rollers for hard to reach spots or just for smaller areas... lot easier to remove from the roller then the bigger ones..
