Depending on the store, they may not cut a 4x4 post. Depends on the saw available.

How long will 4x4 last half in the ground
Asked by: Mike
"last" is a pretty relative term! Also depends on your climate - here in the south (Atlanta) I'm hoping ours will get about 15 yrs before I start having too many problems. We have high humidity, termites and all sorts of reasons wood won't last as long as other places. Also, will the wood be in full sun, shade, high spot/low spot in the yard? My tolerance for looks/warping, rotting spots is pretty low - I know other folks who have decks/patios I'd find completely unacceptable still going strong for them. Also depends if you stain it, seal it, paint it, leave it raw, etc.

We ordered these delivered so I did not handpick them which I knew was a risk. Overall all were straight, clean and not warped! A few minor rough edges on a few, but all were in the condition necessary to complete the project. We used them to edge a brick patio. Heavy little suckers as you would expect ;) so easier to move them with 2 folks if you need to take them very far from their delivery point. This is good as hopefully they will last far longer than the ones we ripped out!
