Answer:
Most of the freestanding liners are sturdy enough to hold water without support, however you may want to consider using bricks or rocks around it to present a "finished" appearance, and to prevent any possible tipping.

I don't have any electrical outlets outside to use. I've seen the lily pad solar fountains and wondered if one or two might be enough to keep water moving.

Hi, I am putting in a small pond for frogs, turtles and little amphibians. I am using no
filters or fountains with churning water. If you want, look up Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy.
It will tell you about the water, you won't need any pumps etc.
Good Luck have fun with it.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed! I love this pond so far; it was easy to install and makes a great addition to my patio. I do recommend using sand to level, and also try avoid getting silt in the water. June 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great pond for small space The size of this pond 40 gallon at 3.5 x 2.5 is great in a small space or to add on to a larger water pond made of rock. I don't think it is large enough for fish, but it still adds the wonderful sound and look of water. This was installed in about 3-4 hours including adding a lighted waterfall pump. I really like that it has a natural shape to it, and the way it curves. It was much more economical then using a pond liner in the space that we had. If you are looking to enhance a small area, with something durable and yet stylish (looks like you would pay much more for this then it cost) this is the pond for you. We love it and have had it for over 2 weeks during the rainy season and it still looks amazing. April 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great little pond liner. This was easy to install. Make sure you have a few bags of sand to help level. Perfect for a small area. Only took a couple hours including digging the hole. Still need a few plants to finish it off. June 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect size and great price! I love this pond! This 40gal pond replaced a 700gal pond which was more maintenance then I wanted to deal with. I built a waterfall, arranged rock and added a few plants. I'm very happy with the results. February 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cute Pond Perfect size for our front yard flower bed. The whole project which included digging the the hole, connecting the fountain water pump and landscaping the pond with rocks, flowers and plants, took only one weekend day. Love the results! August 14, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great small pond for limited space... We had a small space to the left side of our porch and needed a small pond. Easy to install, dig hole , add sand, level. We added rock stones from Home Depot around the outer edges. Be aware an external small filter will be needed for filtration, don't use a submersible filter, causes alge due to the small water volume.... March 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect as our above ground pond. My husband and I wanted to have a pond on our large patio however it is a concrete patio so we decided a preformed pond liner would work best for us. We found this on the Home Depot website and it works great! Since it doesn't have a totally flat bottom my husband made a wood frame to support the pond and then we put rocks of varying sizes around the framed pond. We added a waterfall, plants, fish and it is beautiful and changes the whole look of our patio. April 25, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Product! My husband bought this for me for mothers day with the fountain and I LOVE it! It was easy to install. From start to finish it took us about an hour and that included digging the hole. Kind of hard to make it level because pond is not flat but we used pea gravel under and around pond and it worked great. We had a flower bed that we didn't know what to do with it and now I LOVE it! Great product and great price ! May 14, 2012
