Answer:
I mate the ends of the planks with a 45 degree bevel rather than than a square butt joint. The same way you would mate baseboard.
I also stagger the joints on adjacent rows. You don't want a solid line of joints across your ceiling, it makes the joints more obvious. Lay them out:
One row: 8 ft. then 4 ft.
Next row: 4 ft. then 8 ft.
Repeat

Answer:
Try staggering your joints. they won't be as pronounced.
1st row - Start with a full 8' piece, then finish the row with a 4' piece.
2nd row - Cut a 2' piece. Then install a 8' piece. Out of the 6' scrap piece cut a 2' piece and install it.
3rd row - Install a 4' piece, then an 8' piece, Then your remaining 4' piece.

Product Thickness - in prior BC answers there is conflicting information as to the thickness. Is it 1/4 or 1/2 inch thick?

Conflicting information as to the 42 sq. ft 9-planks thickness. The 3 plank product is 1/4" (seen at store) with a cost of $1.20 / sq ft. This 9-plank set is only available by online order and would be expected to cost less per square foot. However the cost is more at $1.56/sq ft. This would be OK if the product had additional benefits such as thickness. In the BC answers to questions there are statements that it is 1/2" thick, yet the specifications state 1/4" thick. Please verify or justify the higher cost.

Answer:
Sorry - that was mistyped. Installed, it will be 63 in. wide x 96 in. high x 1/4 in. depth. Each piece is 7 in wide x 96 inches long x 1/4 thick - there are 9 pieces in this box.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This product looks great this product was easy to install & easy to clean. also great product for first time DIYer. April 17, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hard way I wish I hadn't bought this stuff. Right off the bat, the instructions say to open the package and allow the planks to sit for 72 hours. Then it says to paint both sides. Now with a light coat of paint, the tongue and groove won't fit together. Be smarter than me and just buy the 48" panels if you want the bead board look. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Came Out Great! I used this product to panel a previously drywalled hallway, and I had to work this beadboard around 2 bi-fold closets and 5 doors. The long, single planks were easy to cut and trim to fit all these difficult areas, and that never could have been done as easily using 4' x 8' panels. The tongue and groove slip joints are simple once you get the hang of it. I installed this singlehandedly and used small nails and no glue with no problems. This is a rental property so the hallway walls can take a beating but I've had no problems with damage in almost 5 years of use. Everyone comments how great it looks, and a friend is doing the same thing at his place after seeing mine. March 13, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by if this product was made correctly it would install and look much better this product looked to me like they made it on friday afternoon!!!...in a hurry. the groove does not mach up with the tounge, in most pieces i have the tounge doesnt even fit into the groove, also when you nail it solid you cant get the next piece to side into the groove. very poorly made, very inconsistent pieces, maybe every forth or fifth board is made correctly. very disappionted in this, once i get it all up it will just look okay, if i didnt have it glued i would pull it all down and get something else. i plan on visiting home depot with a few of these pieces and giving them a big piece of my mind. and also my wife has discover many new cuss words, some i didnt know i new!!!!! dont buy it!!! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Although the final project looked nice, the quality of the boards were quite thin. The boards were easy to cut, but were very thin. I was nervous that the boards would flake away before I got them on the wall. I nailed them with 1" brads because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to cover the nail holes if I used anything larger. The overall job looked very nice when I was finished, but i don't see them lasting that long. I hope they do. September 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Product is easy to work with and install. We found the product easy to work with and to install. We purchased this from the website for home delivery. Note that the local store DOES NOT stock the same material, interlocking edges are machined differently on the store product, so when we decided to purchase a bit more we had to re-order from the website. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tongues in Grooves? Does anyone know -- Is there an EASY way to get the tongues fitting into the grooves? The "Hammer and a Wood Block" suggestion in the Instructions, too often results in knocking the plank out of its Groove at the other end. June 10, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wonderful We used this as a ceiling for our remodeled kitchen, it looks wonderful. It is a two person job to get it installed needing both glue and small nails. So install was a little more than we thought but the end result is wonderful. March 19, 2013
