I like to replace my current wood stair baluster with irons and was told that only 5/8 series works. Can you please let me know if this is 5/8"?

Answer:
I had wooden "dowel" shaped balusters and replaced them with the .5 inch metal balusters. You will have to use the shoes with them at both top and bottom so the difference in size between 1/2 and 5/8 won't matter. The shoes have a little allen screw #3cm# that tightens them to the baluster so it won't slip either up or down.

44 in. x 0.5 in. Satin Black Double Knuckle Metal Baluster is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Chipped Paint on Knuckles I ordered 15 double knuckle metal balusters and when they arrived more than half of them had paint that was chipped off of the balusters. We needed them for a project we were doing that needed finishing right away otherwise I would've returned them and ordered new ones.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Had nicks in the paint Had nicks in the finish. Rather than try & return and risk of others being in the same condition, just bought paint and re-painted. They do not carry in our local store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked but not perfect Knuckles can be moved by loosening hex bolt. There is a riased line left where the knuckle originaly was. I do not know if it is a build up of paint or what. It was only on one side so I was able to orient it toward the back. It worked out for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Buy I ordered a total of 20 of these for a new project and am thankful that I opened up the box before we started the installation. There were 9 that had the paint chipped off of them. So very disappointed that this happened as now my project is on hold as I return all of them and order from a better place on line.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Look great. Easy DIY project. About 75% of these had chipped paint. Didn't want the inconvenience of returning and reordering, so I touched all of them up. Keep this in mind if you order. (I noticed this on the other reviews, but didn't think so many would be bad.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Easy to use and install. Consistent quality. Added "pizazz" to my baluster.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from product need improvement I was disappointed that I could not move the knuckle up or down because where the knuckle was positioned on the iron rail it was not painted. I also had to remove the knuckle off the iron baluster a lot because the hole at the top of the iron baluster was on the same side as the allen screw holding the knuckle on, so when you went to put cap at the top of the baluster the screw for the cap would go in the hole instead of tightening up on the baluster.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure the product will hold up The products arrived with chips in the powder coating. I am not sure if it is because of poor shipping or if the product chips easily. This product is for our stair railing and now I am concerned that if someone runs into the spindles that they will just chip and will look bad. I am not happy because I thought that powder coating would be stronger.
