Customer Reviews

45-Pint Dehumidifier is rated 1.3 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nothing but issues with this product First, it is loud. If you want a very loud, annoying object other than your kids in the house, get this item. It has about the same sound as an outdoor air conditioning unit. Second, the power button stopped working soon after we bought it. It still works, but you have to plug and unplug it. Third, you can never let it get full. Once when we left it along, it kept running, and we came home to a room with a huge puddle on our hardwood floors. It damaged the area around the dehumidifier. Finally, it sometimes switches off when it is not full. You then have to remove the bucket and reinsert it to get it going again. On the positive side, it still basically runs after a few years. You just can't be in the same room when it is running due to how loud it is, and you can't leave it by itself for very long for fear of it damaging the floor.

I'm considering myself really lucky right now, looking at the other reviews... We've had one of these for 4-5 years now and still running strong (knock on wood). Only small complaints would be how loud it is and the bucket is sometimes hard to get out. Still emptying full buckets at least once a week though, so it's clearly doing its job.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Less than one star, stay away from this one If you could rate "0" stars, this would earn it. So sorry I rushed to the store and did not take the time to read other reviews. It has appealing features, it they worked. The machine is noisy, and after just one year, runs nonstop without taking a drop of moisture out of my basement. It was not the cheapest model so thought I might be getting a better quality product. Not so. Another 200 dollars wasted and my basement is still musty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from terrible I have owned 4 of these in 3 years. The only reason I continue with this model is that there is a cut out in my wall exactly the size of it. The previous owner of the house put it on a shelf and ran a drainage hose through the foundation into the driveway.Every model so far freezes up and stops dehumidifying, and it is not in a cold area (the average temperature of the area is 65-70 degrees). The company does honor the warranty, so if it goes bad inside of 1 year, call them. I have done this 2 times already. The problem with that is that the refurbished model they send is even less reliable than the new ones. Eventually I may have to alter this hole in my wall to accommodated a more reliable brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I purchased an LG LHD459EL on April 2, 2010. The unit worked fine until two days ago (October 16, 2011) when it all caked with ice. It's been manually defrosted twice since but freezes up again about an hour after it's turned back on. The basement it's in is warm: it's 68F. I'm disappointed that the unit has failed after 18 months.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good choice We have two of these. We purchased one and decided that our basement was large enough to justify another one so we picked up a second one; however, just shy of one a year, one of them died. We did end up getting it replaced by LG, but it required a lot of time with us dragging the thing over to a "repair facility" (a guy's back yard) to have him determine that it wasn't working. The replacement unit failed within 6 months and was replaced again using the same annoying process. Now, it has been about 18 months and the replacement unit has died. We are going to try another manufacturer. Interestingly, the other one of the two original units that we bought has been happily running without incident for the whole time. Clearly they make a good one once in a while, but we have had 4 different units (the first two plus two replacements) and only 1 of the 4 has served satisfactorily.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! AFTER WORKING WELL FOR A VERY SHORT WHILE, THIS PRODUCT MALFUNCTIONED. I LOOKED ONLINE TO TROUBLESHOOT AND FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I WAS ASTOUNDED, THERE WERE NUMEROUS IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS. I CALLED LG THEY WERE VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND SAID IT WOULD COST ABOUT $239. TO REPAIR. ALSO I NOTICED THE NUMEROUS SAFETY RECALLS ON LG DEHUMIDIFIERS. I AM APPRECIATIVE MINE JUST STOPPED WORKING INSTEAD OF BURNING THE HOUSE DOWN.
