Customer Questions & Answers

when the element says 4500/3308 what does the 3308 mean?

when the element says 4500/3308 what does the 3308 mean?
Asked by: gus
4500 watts is the heat output for 240 volts. At 208 volts, the heat output is 3380 watts (not 3308). You will not likely see 208 volts at a residence. 208 volts is a common three phase voltage seen at businesses or large buildings. So the element will generate 4500 watts at 240 volts and 3380 watts at 208 volts.

Is this for the lower heat element?

Asked by: Nancy
If you look close inside the panel there should be a little notch for a screw driver to turn the thermostat setting.

i have a GE Smart Sense 50 gallon, upper /lower 4500/3380

the lower element isn't working. how wld I know if a need a fold back style or straight element?
Asked by: Felix32
Either will work. I prefer the straight type because when they fail, they are easier to get out. The fold back type, fold up like a pretzel and can be difficult if not impossible to get out. Just make sure you get the same wattage element (4500)

4500-Watt/240-Volt High Watt Density Screw-In Water Heater Element is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't let the price fool you First of all I was skeptical about the $9 price tag, but considering my old boiler is very old I figured it would do for a short while until I can replace my water heater with a performance system. After a very easy install I am amazed at how hot my water is now, considering the element is a very simple and basic one. The screw thread fit, I felt was just a little too easy, so I wrapped PTFE around the thread to tighten the joint up. Simple install and definitely better then the price suggests. DEFFO worth the Money, BUT, I would advise you to go for the PTFE FOR PEACE OF MIND. 30 minutes to fit including draining the boiler to the element.

One of the two that I bought had bad threads. It looked like when to was glued together, it was just a hair off so I had to return one. It was so bad it wouldn't install. No big deal just wasted 30 minutes.
