Seeing if its justified to hire a Electrictan to com ein and add a Seperate Dedicated 240v line to Wire up ( Hard Wire) a 240 v- Elec. BB heater to my 140 sq ft-4 season porch ( est $200 cost) or just use a 120v, plug in the reg. outlet BB htr..

1- Using the same 1,000 (1 kw) watt Base board heaters
2- Both put out the same BTU's ( ave 3412)
3- 1 is 120 volt and the other uses 240 volt..
4- If the the 120 volt draws 1 kw per hour
5- How much does the 240 v draw per hour?

Mathamatically?
1- It cost 0.14 cents per KW here in SE Wisconsin in Winter Mos. ( 0.17 CPKW- Summer)
2- Thus a 1KW, 120 V unit will cost 0.14 ( 14 ) cents PKW to run at 100% on time
3- If the 240 draws -25% less to power the same 1kw BBH, it would cost 10.5 cents per Hour

Does the 240 draw -25 % less?

Answer:
Your cost to operate this heater would be the same as you are paying per KWh and both units operate at the same wattage output.
