I just bought an older house and am doing my living areas and kitchen in a very industrial/factory type concept. Exposed red brick, concrete floors, commercial lighting, ne paint etc. Before I can get to all that I needed some additional storage. This unit was on sale and stocked in the store. It made the perfect rolling island for the kitchen and a fraction of the cost of actual islands. It practically holds half the kitchen in it.
The last Husky tool chest I bought (about 12 years ago, still have it) was in a million pieces and took a few hours to put together. This came out of the box ready to go except for the wheels and handle. That made my day.
This isn't a chest to beat on everyday. There are other companies that make tool chests for that. Just take the price of this box and literally multiply by 10. This will dent easy and my older Husky box seems to have a heavier gauge steel. I can see this chest getting the job done for an average weekend warrior or someone just starting to get there hands greasy.

All drawers have ball bearing movements. I keep some heavy tools for aircraft sheetmetal repairs and its holding them with no problem. Each drawer moves smooth.

I have been wanting a rolling chest for years but the price was prohibitive! This it sturdy and well built. Big wheels makes it easy to move and the wood top is great! Definitely helped unclutter my workshop.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by TrailRunner Examine carefully before leaving store!!!
I purchased this tool chest yesterday at my local HD store. After reading other reviews, I looked carefully at the packaging, and picked out one that had no indications of any damage. At the checkout, my paranoia got the better of me and I asked the clerk to open the packaging up so I could examine the box for damage. She cut the packing straps and I quickly gave the box a quick once over... TOO QUICK!!! I missed a corner that had been hit, and judging from the undamaged packing carton, I would say this happened in the factory, not in transit. I discovered it (actually my wife did) when we completely unboxed it at home. I contemplated returning it, but the drawers all work fine, and it is just a home storage box. Packing up and returning something this heavy and awkward for what amounts to cosmetic damage is not worth my time. I don't blame HD for this, as I had the opportunity to see the damage at the store and missed it. It is disappointing that Husky's quality control let the box through with damage that should have been clearly evident to an inspector.
So about the chest itself. I have owned both Snap On and MAC chests. No comparison obviously, but for a homeowner with a decent collection of tools this chest isn't bad. Drawers slide ok, casters aren't bad, and the box looks pretty good, aside from the dented corner. Constructed of pretty thin metal, so don't bump it into something and expect it to emerge unscathed. I have a pretty extensive tool collection, so drawers are loaded fairly heavy with no sign of sagging/binding. Chest rolls smoothly on the casters.
Bottom line, if you're a pro you'd be better served spending your dollars on a higher quality chest. For a homeowner who has the usual homeowner odds and ends, this box is an amazing value, in my humble opinion. Just be sure to open it up at the store and look over THOROUGHLY before lugging it home.

I started off by recently purchasing one of these from my local H.D. store. I was impressed with the weight/load limits of the unit and a size that fit my needs. I was, however not impressed by the fact that the display model had a severely dented lower, right, front corner. I had the store employee pull one from the top shelf (new in the box). Once I got it home & opened the box, mine too was severely dented in the same corner and numerous locations where metal panels & supports were dented or bent thus causing the unit to have about a 1/2â or ârockâ when on a smooth, flat surface. I noticed that there was no damage to the box or interior foam packaging. I will note, the packaging of this unit IS well protected.
I returned to the store to inspect the other units. After working with a Manager, we opened other units to find similar damages on all units we opened. Some of the damages we inspected were from the inside out; leading us to believe this was damage prior to packaging. The locking mechanism on one cabinet I inspected at the store failed to work due to the deformation of the cabinet during construction. All cabinets we unpackaged were contained within their original, undamaged boxes & foam packing material.
Working to find the two best cabinets, I made my purchase and left with damaged, but useable cabinets. I provided pictures to the H.D./Husky Customer Service Department so that they could inform the manufacturer in Vietnam of the issues.
Seeing that my cabinets were damaged, I can only comment on the operation of mine. The drawers worked smoothly, with the exception of one due to a bent workbench frame that jams the edge of the top draw from time to time. I like the way the drawer handles are recessed within the cabinet so that I donât catch myself on them. The drawers operate well on the ball-bearing tracks. The drawers are a little stiff to push into the âfully closedâ position prior to locking with a key. 1 key locks all the drawers but be sure they are pushed in all the way or it will not lock. The drawer depth is 15-3/4 to 15-7/8â front to back which meant, for me, that my drawer organizers (measuring a standard 16-1/16â) would not fit. Sort of a big letdown for me.
The casters roll smooth & lock into position. The handle has a solid feel. I wish it could be assembled on either end so that I could roll this into a select corner of my garage.
