Yes but it will need special adaptations to maintain the louver open like installing a vent scoop with a screen on it or at least a filter that I mention in one of the other answers.

Can I have this hardwired when it is installed? I assume that the door would have to be open all the time if I did.

yes you can but it will constantly be running. You will have to prop open the vents (door) or remove it and replace it with a diverted vent scoop. Preferably with a screen or at least purchase the round aluminum filter for the unit. Model # S99010046. This will help keep the critters out.

The fan comes on when you open the door with the chain and goes off when you close it. I hardwired mine. The switch is built into the fan.

Thank you for your question about this exhaust fan. We appreciate your business. This is a thru-the-wall pull chain operated exhaust fan. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan. I built out a tiny house/tiny office for onsite mgt. The boss is a smoker so I needed a powerful fan. This one really sucks...out the smoke;-) Easy install, simple to operate. Seals up tight when turned off, too. 10/10 would buy again for future projects. October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best thru the wall exhaust fan The Broan thru the wall exhaust fan is well made and powerful. August 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful Exhaust fan My Cigar Lounge exhaust fan. Installed this fan through a sliding window, built a wooden frame box for the fan since I didn’t want to cut open my drywall. I bypass the switch to always on and controlled by a outlet switch with a wireless remote. Place a screen to prevent bugs from coming in since damper is always open, closed with pull chain if bad weather occurs. Cigar smoke is cleared quickly. Only issue it is noisy. Thank You Broan for a excellent product. April 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very quiet and well made. Hard to find a thru the wall exhaust fan for a stove. THIS IS A GREAT ONE. June 1, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works Awesome Does a great job and was easy to install IF you have the right tools available and follow the instructions. Would like it a little quieter, but with that amount of flow you have to expect the noise to go along with it. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by glad we bought it only suggestion, make it easier to connect electric with framing on outside wall. was difficult putting electric box inside a 14 inch cut with framing for mounting. we like the exhaust air performance. Also the size is perfect for our 400 square foot bunkhouse. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works great!! this exhaust fan does a great job of pulling moisture out of a bathroom with no window. November 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Most CFM for the Money This moves the most air for the price. You will need to spend a little extra time installing and making sure everything fits your wall hole without interference and if you get it framed in properly it does not vibrate, rattle or sound like a plane. If the chain drags bend the chain tube open a little more with a punch or screwdriver. You will need to clean the door once in a while if you're moving kitchen grease or other sticky mist through it or it will stick shut but that's just common sense maintenance. If you want something more robust you will have to pay more but this works good if you take care installing, clean it once in a while and don't try to yank the chain into next year. November 19, 2014
