Made with the industries most recognized polycarbonate brand, lexan multi-wall hurricane panels offer an alternative to common corrugated plastic storm panels. These flat clear fluted polycarbonate sheets are a great replacement for the plywood sheets used by many home and business owners today. They are lightweight, reusable and won't warp, break, dent, rust, rot, or corrode like plywood or metal panels. Their triple wall construction gives them the strength they need to stand up to the strongest winds while being lightweight and easy to install using common tools around the home. 2-side uv coating gives them extended weather ability even in the sunniest of areas. Lexan multi-wall hurricane panels are strong, durable and clear. Everything you need to keep your home, business, and family safe this hurricane season.

Yes it is! It can be cut with a Circular saw or Saber saw, and also drilled. I used it to replace bathtub enclosure panels, after my elderly dad fell against the glass, and broke it. The only problem I had, was that this stuff is so light, any upward motion on the towel bar, unhooked the rollers from the track.....I had to make a hold down strip to keep it on track. Be careful with gluing it. Read More

What mounting hardware and bracketry is offered to mount these panels. I am interested in an inside the window opening mount as opposed to a flush mount on the face of the building.

Apparently nothing specific is made for these.
As they are about 5/8" thick, you would need to frame these with thicker wood than the usual 3/4" boards. Perhaps if you build frames of 1x2 and 1x3, put faces together with nails and glue so they act as a recessed dado for locating the plastic panels. You could then secure in place with clips, vinyl strips, turn plates, silicone caulk or other items.

I am assuming that you want them to look ok in your home, perhaps matching or complimenting your window frames. I would build the above and stain or paint to suit, then attach with screws to make it removable, hang then before storms threaten. I would also put a gasket of foam or vinyl tape under the edges to seal out weather if a window is broken beneath them. You could also make permanent frames attached to the window moldings that these sit into and then secure with clips on the face. There are plenty of options!
Good luck to you!

If I use these 5/8" multiwall thermoclear as storm panels, what channel should I use to mount them?

5/8" vinyl or aluminum? Something else?

What do you suggest and should they just be top and bottom or all four side?

I want to use instead of plywood or hurricane shutters

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product While it is designed for hurricanes, I used this for a permanent "window" inside our house that allows light between an office and a staircase. HD shipped it to a nearby store for free. It was a bit damaged in shipping, but I was able to work around it. It is easy to handle and cut. December 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Protects my windows from hurricanes I needed to cover the windows on my beachfront cottage to protect them from storms and hurricanes. I also wanted a light weight, somewhat transparent, easy to work with solution. The cut to size covers weigh only about 5 lbs each, let light in, block clear vision into the vacant house, but allow some vision out through the windows. They are easy to put up and take down and store. They are a little expensive but a great solution! October 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product/But two corners are bent :( Bought online, opened box and two of the corners were bent. It would't a big deal being that it is an amazing product except it's an expensive product. FYI: another reviewer said theirs came damage too. December 2, 2015
