I need to winterize some old large windows. They have a wood frame around them so my thought is to screw some plexiglass around them and seal around it. Not worried about looks other than being able to see out.

Answer:
It is clear; You'd need to pre drill the holes and I'd advise a rubber washer between the sheet and screw. Do not tighten too much!

Answer:
Paul, I think polycarbonate is the same as Lexan. Lexan is the brand name. We bought the polycarbonate to redo windows on a skid steer, hence it needed to be strong and non-yellowing. Acrylic is for indoor use. I am thinking of buying it for an indoor storm window panel. Hope it is optical enough for a picture window.

Answer:
If exposed to the elements, non-lexan acrylic sheets will become opaque over time because they are relatively softer. A Lowes employee warned me about this when I was about to buy acrylic glass (even though Lowes doesn't sell lexan.) I don't know how long the clouding takes, but the storms I made using optiplex haven't changed that I can see this year.

My fridge shelves all broke at the same time and to replace them it's $85+tax+shipping x 4 - at this price I'd probably just replace the fridge. It's only 6 yrs. old. the old shelves were glass surrounded by plastic - it's the plastic that broke.

Answer:
Since this product is not designed by your refrigerator manufacturer, it is not advised that you use these sheets for this purpose. There is no guarantee that they wouldn't bend or break under heavy weight.

Acrylic sheet should work in this application provided it is well supported.
Please use .118 or .220 depending on how much weight is on the shelf.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shopped around on different websites, but... Home Depot had the best buy for the best size and the best shipping deal. A couple other places local wanted a minimum of $150 purchase and/or $150 shipping. Oy! No thank you. Home Depot gave us the size we needed at a great price plus shipped to our local store for free! We just purchased a brand new hard wood kitchen table and are owned by a couple of cats. They love to run and play and slide on the kitchen table. This plexi saves the finish and keeps the table looking new. The table is mostly for looks when not in use for holiday meals. Again, for us it was a great price and the shipping to our local Home Depot was fast, free and convenient. August 27, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent. Works for storm windows. I needed to build some windows for a new workshop and cover some floor to ceiling Windows.. These worked great. I am stilling in the process of building the Windows. I Have cut all kind of size pieces. Just get a blade for cutting plastic at Home Depot and use your power saw. So far not a single chip. Make sure you brace the sheet so it doesn't flex when cutting. I laid it on the floor on top of 2x4's turned on their edge. That give u plenty of clearance for the saw blade. Don't remove the plastic cover until you are already to install....keep it clean and scratch free. For my Windows I just used a razor cutter after I had finished building them and cut around the frames. It was easy to just peal away the cover. Also, I suggest that when it's delivered open the box and inspect the counters before u accept the shipment. All of mine have been perfect and wrapped with care but it they damaged then just refuse it. Highly recommended...this is a good product. Oh, drilling holes. Just take it easy and make sure you have it on a firm surface. I haven't had a single problem and I have drilled a couple of hundred holes so far. November 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice glass replacement Product was ordered online and shipped to the store. While the price that I paid at HomeDepot was better than all other known sources, it is still expensive. Shipping took longer than expected, but arrived in good shape with excellent packing. If mounted like glass I would rate this as excellent. I used it like plexiglass, not like acrylic and cracked it numerous times drilling holes. Fixed with gorilla tape, it works fine as a solar collector it was purchased for. I would use something softer or change my mounting technique, if used again. For the price I can upgrade to a double pane tempered patio door for the upper solar collector plate. April 29, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible When I picked up the 4' by 8' sheet of plexiglass it was packed in cardboard.A store employee help me place it in my van. I never looked at the other side of the box, took it home and put it in my garage.that afternoon when I openned the box the back side had forklift marks and one fork had broke thru in two spots, putting gouges on the plexiglass.Customer service said I would have to bring it back and reorder.I was pressed for time on this project,so I had to go to Lowes and spend $28 on a 2'by4' piece.Customer service did not offer any alternative.
