Customer Reviews

5/16 in. x 3/4 in. x 7 ft. Bronze Aluminum Screen Frame is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to put together, not the greatest quality though I was looking for a solution to add a screen to the inside of our wrought iron front doors, which has a glass panel that opens to allow fresh air to come in. However, I didn't want our cats to try to go out, as the iron scrollwork has large enough openings for that to happen easily. A retractable screen would have worked, but would have been much too expensive (around $1000) for the kind I wanted. I found that I could buy the materials to make my own screen. I first looked at these in the store, and when I asked the guy if he could cut these down, he said they only cut down wood. He said these could not be cut with a hacksaw, but needed tin snips. I decided to do more research. So glad I waited. I bought a few of these frame pieces, a miter box/saw, and all the corner pieces/spline/screen needed to create a couple of screens. These were relatively easy to cut with a simple, cheap saw. After watching the video here to see how the screen actually went in place, actually doing it was easy as well. My only complaint is that they are a cheap material, and will bend and scratch easily. One piece bent when I was trying to fit it in the door, and I was actually able to bend it completely and snap it apart. So back to Home Depot to buy more. There are now several scratches all around, which aren't too noticeable, but they're there. I was able to do both doors for around $50 in materials. Glad I was able to save so much money, and now we have fresh air coming through the front door and my cats are safe, too!
