Answer:
The container is plastic. I dont think I have ever seen one of these 5 gallon jugs in glass. It would be way to heavy.

Answer:
Typically, 5 gallon plastic containers. I assume glass would be heavier and more expensive. I have had these plastic ones fall over in the bed of my truck and crack before though.

Answer:
No you do not get your money back fro bringing in the jug. You get a credit towards your next jug of water. I like the system since I always get my water at home depot, but if you are one of those who gets their 5 gallon jugs of water from different sources then home depots exchange policy wont be the best for you.

Do these water bottles have the cap that the cooler probe punches out? You put the punchout back in when you refill the bottle.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great water, easy convenient empty bottle exchange. Personally I think its quite convenient that Home Depot carries these 5 gallon jugs of water. Seeing as I frequent Home Depot at least a couple times a week. When you first purchase the water you will pay a twice the price as you are paying for the jug and the water. After that initial purchase all you do is take the empty jug back to homedepot and you receive a credit for the new jug of water which is only half the price of the initial purchase. Now this may not be the greatest method of exchanging the bottles for those who tend to purchase their water from different sources, but for me. Someone who is always at home depot and only buys the 5 gallon water from here its a great and convenient system of exchange. Also these bottles come with a punch through top which is nice. So no more spills when putting this on top load water coolers, but in order to make use of the punch through top you have to have a newer water cooler that is capable of punching through the top. Otherwise you will have to do it old school and remove the water jug top completely and do the whole routine of tilting a heavy and opened 5 gallon jug of water onto your water cooler. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Save Time, Money, and Help the Environment I bought this to use in a bottom load water dispenser. I can't say what brand the water is at other HDs but it's a well known brand at the one I use. The water is high quality and taste great. The process is very easy. You buy the first jug at full price then return the empty jug for a new one at half the price. Even if you buy a 24 pack of bottled water, it still doesn't come close to the savings you get buying a 5 gallon bottle. On top of that the jugs get reused rather than thrown away. October 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Durable with handle. Better than Walmart. Good price! I did an exchange at Home Depot with an empty bottle. Will buy another filled bottle as backup. The bottles are thick and durable. January 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good deal, but don't get the bad reviews? I am sure I will get a thumbs down for this, but this is a good buy. You buy the first (Full) 5 gallon jug, then after it's empty, just bring it back and exchange for a new full one for on $6 every time after . The problem is, people just assume things instead of asking an associate how things work. HD was the only store that I could find that sold these, and they make it easy just to walk in and say here's the old one, now give me a new one. August 31, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unfortunately Misled This product in store is totally misleading and overpriced. Purchasing the container should be returnable not just exchangeable. Please don't be the next unfortunate person to be so easily misled! August 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Glad for the refills I was glad that they do exchange the refillable bottles at the store. March 19, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Misled As another reviewer stated, they stopped taking the empty bottles back for the deposit return. January 1, 2015
