Don't know if you can tell what product I was looking at - it was the string of lights with a remote solar panel. I can't figure out what holds the lights in place - in the ground or whatever.

Answer:
They are inserted into a precisely-drilled hold - friction fit. That works fine. But stay away...

Hi susan,
Depending on where the lights will be installed will determine how they are held in place.
For the ground, you simply make a large enough hole with dirt/mulch.
As for a dock or stairs, you'd need to drill into them to allow the wires and fixtures to be safely installed.
Below is the installation guide for these lights, refer to it for specific install Read More

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Battery charge only lasts an hour or so. We used several of these sets in a new porch to illuminate stair risers. They look good, BUT regardless of the runtime setting (2,4, or 6 hours), they never last for more than an hour or so even after a full day of full sun to charge. I am going to replace the useless solar charger/controller with a home-built power supply. November 20, 2015
