Product Overview

The Master Flow 5 in. x 25 ft. Insulated Flexible Duct R6 Silver Jacket is used in standard Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems and some venting applications. The duct has R6 insulation which contains 33% more insulation than the standard R4.2 product. This additional insulation provides greater thermal efficiency to save energy. The product is also covered in a heavy duty, silver jacket for durability. The duct is ETL listed, meeting the UL181 standard.

  • R6 fiberglass insulation for greater insulating power
  • Flexible duct is convenient for use in multiple applications including heating & A/C systems and some venting
  • Oversized core to connect quickly and easily to standard sheet metal fitting
  • Galvanized core wire for greater corrosion resistance vs. non-galvanized wire
  • Duct can be cut to length as needed
  • Insulated duct features a maximum temperature rating of 200 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Always install per instructions and seal using approved mastic or sealant (or approved tape)

I'm planning to use this for portable air conditioner air exhaust. The a/c comes with plastic 5" diameter hose, but I need extension. Does this work with it?
Thank,

Answer:
MasterFlow flexible duct is rated to withstand a temperature of up to 250 degrees F. If the discharge air is lower than this, then it would be approved for use. Please call Technical Services at 800-211-9612, M-F 8A-5P EDT, for additional help.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works Awesome as a portable A/C exhaust hose! 14,000 btu portable mini heat pump came with a uninsulated plastic exhaust hose that released a massive ammount of heat. Instead of wrapping it with insulation, which was going to cost about the same ammount, I tryed this hose and it is a night and day difference. I imagine this is saving me a ton of money too in energy costs as now my a/c unit shuts off when reaching set temperature, where as before, it was just constantly running trying. Since it is made out of plastic and aluminum and it is I side not being moved around alot, I think this hose will last a long time. Now if you are moving it around, have crazy animals or children, that can be another story ;) August 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly What I Needed Exactly what I needed to run through the basement ceiling, above the drop ceiling. The cost is a bit high for what it is, but I needed this one in particular. December 8, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cheap cheap cheap This was installed in my house by someone cutting corners and luckily I noticed it was ripped in several sections before drywall covered it up! I will be replacing this with aluminium flexible duct. The thin plastic is going to degrade over time and I don't want to risk it with duct work dry-walled into the floor joists. I also thought it was odd that the insulation was much larger than the 5 inch duct. October 3, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not quite as described Ultimately, this is a 5" diameter flexible duct wrapped in insulation. However, the flexible duct portion is unusually soft and is prone to being pinched or squished if bent at too severe of an angle, unlike other flexible ducts I've used before. Also, the photo shows a tightly wrapped duct with the insulation adding just a few inches around, while the actual product has nearly a full foot in diameter because of the loosely wrapped insulation. It took quite a bit of maneuvering and duct tape to get this thing down to a size that fit where we needed it. May 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by As described on site, good price vs HVAC dealer What can I say? It's flex ducting. Good quality, same as at dealers, but less money. Good value in my eyes. Easy to use and install, install instructions on box, and works exactly as it should. August 19, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by just the right size Had a small space to feed ductwork through...two 5" ducts were just the size needed. October 7, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by just what we were looking for great turnaround time and just as described and, the price was right. May 27, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by As advertised This seems like a well-made product. I bought it to replace the uninsulated exhaust duct that came with a Delonghi roll-around air conditioner -- a plastic hose that heated the room on the way to the window vent. Now the system is much more efficient. But watch out: the five-inch diameter is unusual, and at first Home Depot shipped me a four-inch duct by mistake. July 9, 2011
