Customer Questions & Answers

How many tablets are in this 5 lb package?

Asked by: dih706
One hundred and sixty (160) pellets calculated as follows. One pellet weighted half an ounce. So, 2 pellets = 1oz. [For dry weight, 16oz = 1lb.] Two pellets (per ounce) x 16oz (per pound) equals 32 pellets (per pound). Multiply 32 pellets (per pound) times 5lbs to get 160 pellets per container. Calculated because I have already opened and used some pellets of my container. So, even if I dumped out what's left, I cannot get a "count".

Can I place it in the skimmer or is this only for a floater?

Asked by: myob
You need to place these tablets in a floater for the best result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent substitute for toilet bowl cleaner catridge. First time using these chlorinating tablets to refill--instead of replace--toilet bowl cartridges. Realized original cartridge has a rubber/foam filler block (probably to raise pellet so it won't dissolve too fast as it did at first after I took the "filler" out; so, put "filler" back in. It dissolves faster than I want; but since it was not designed for this use; maybe it dissolves as designed. Does not leave as much chlorine smell in the bathroom as the original cartridge, but it helps to keep bowl clean. Original refill cartridge costs $6.00 each. This product (5lbs) costs ~$27. Based on pellets used so far I should get a yield --using 2 pellets per refill-- of more than 45 refills. At six dollars per refill it would cost me $270 to buy original refills. So, somewhat less "chlorine smell" in the bathroom for more than $250 in savings.
