Sliding Doors for Closet

I have a 60x80 closet and want to replace the bi-fold doors with sliding mirrored doors. The doors I chose are called "bypass doors" - is this the same as "sliding doors"? Also, are the prices quoted for these doors per closet or per side? For example, do I have to order two doors or one set? The price is stated as "/each".
Asked by: GeeMom
yes, by pass and sliding are the same thing the door comes as a pair. the price is for both doors.

my opening is 60 inches wide and only 79 1/2 inches tall. will this door fit or will it be too short. I am replacing a standard builders door just like this one. I don't believe the builder used custom size doors.

What is the maximum and minimum or recomended finish opening for this door. I'm sure if I make it 59 IN. X 80.5 IN, that will be too tight.

Asked by: Joe
Thank you for your question and your patronage. The door size were referencing will fit a maximum of 60 inches wide The maximum height the unit will fit is 81 inches tall and it can be adjusted down to 80 inches tall. So this door will fit into your existing opening of 59" x 80.5" so this door will fit into your opening with no problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap Cheap packaging, the edges of the doors had scrapes on them with paint missing. I have concrete sub floors and installing the bottom rail per their instructions did not work. I finally just rented a hammer drill and set screws to secure the rail before damaging the product any more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from cheaply constructed doors I bought two sets of these doors at Home Depot. One was for a standard 6' wide opening. The other was for a closet that was 7' wide. That was nearly triple the cost, because they had to cut down a larger door. You would think they might also cut the track, since they had the dimensions, but they didn't . You would think they would remove the burrs, from where they cut the metal frame, but they didn't. The larger track had 8 screw holes, but they provided me with the installation hardware for the smaller door, which includes only 6 screws. The bottom track is "jump proof", not because they used larger gauge steel, but because they include a strip of particle board, to slide under it during installation. Finally, one of the hanger screws snapped off when I tried screwing it into the header, so I used a deck screw. How much did they save by making their screws out of cheap metal and shorting me two? Five cents? I'm glad they make these in America, but they need to pay a little more attention to the quality!
