Product Overview

The Compost Wizard EnviroTumbler makes composting easy and fun. With its revolutionary, compact design, you save space and waste. This compost tumbler comes in two pieces. No assembly required. You'll be ready to compost in less than a minute. The dark plastic absorbs the suns heat, allowing your kitchen scraps, yard waste, and other organic matter to quickly break down into fresh compost (hummus). Not only do you get to enjoy fresh earthy compost, you can also harvest the excess compost tea from the batch. As you turn the drum, any excess liquid drains out into the base. You can then drain the stored tea directly onto plant roots. Compost tea is some of the best, most nutrient packed, natural fertilizer you can get. With the low profile, you can rest assured that your composter won't tip over easily in the wind. You can also remove the drum from the base to quickly roll your batch to any desired location around the lawn. You can then use your compost like mulch in gardens or spread it on your lawn. The moisture and nutrients will gradually seep into the ground. Ask any gardener and they'll tell you that compost and fresh rain water give some of the best, heartiest plants out there.

Answer:
Worms are a nice addition but not necessary. Kitchen scraps, or if you have access to livestock manure are enough. I use my leaves in the Fall, I will bag them up for use throughout the year. Best compost ever.

Answer:
No...just use scraps like peels from vegetables, lettuce, egg shells, coffee grinds. I even put in some ripped up newspapers and grass clippings.

I live in Hawaii, and it seems it cannot be shipped here. Every composter I have bought has eventually failed due to the harsh salt weather I live in. I live right across from the ocean and we have prevailing Easterly winds which inundates my residence and all metal object rust to death, thus the previous three composters have met its demise. This model looks like it will be the best solution for my needs. So how can I get one to Hawaii?

Answer:
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot, Billy. Unfortunately, there is not a way to force shipping to HI. You may contact your local store to see if it may be special ordered from the vendor. Special orders are not available online. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

what size hose bib

This question is from 6.5 cu. ft. Black Compost Wizard EnviroTumbler

Has anyone actually installed a hose bib on the drain plug of the base? The 1/2" hose bib was too small and the 3/4" hose bib is too big, which indicates its 5/8", but I've never heard of such a product. The other possibility is that since the base threads are plastic and the hose bibs I've tried are brass, it is a 3/4" female thread, but only cut for a plastic male connection.

Answer:
I don't have one of these (still looking), but from your description, you should be able to "MacGuiver" a fix by explaining your situation to your local hardware/plumbing store. The threads may not be standard to a plumbing hose bib, but you might be able to insert a 1/2" PVC or galvanized pipe, add large washers on each side, add connectors, then add your brass or PVC valve. Good luck!

I want to add a spigot to the composter. It looks like there is a hole there already. Is that correct? Does it need to be drilled out? What kind of spigot should i buy? I can't find anything called a "composter spigot".

Answer:
You are correct. You need to buy the spigot, but there is a place for it. I will probably add on in the spring.

6.5 cu. ft. Black Compost Wizard EnviroTumbler is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, Functional composted This composting tumbler arrived on time and was simple to assemble. I can't say it is very attractive but that doesn't matter to me much. I've been using it for about 4 weeks now. It is easy to open and add compost material but the lid is a little fussy when trying to thread it back on. It contains decomposition smells well and doesn't attract vermin or insects. My only complaint is the composting material clumps together at the bottom and makes it difficult to turn the drum round. If I don't turn it every day it solidifies some and makes this problem worse. Some baffles inside would help to break up the composting material more and reduce this problem. Because it can be difficult to turn it skips off the wheel track and I have to muscle it back into place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and works great We enjoy not having to shovel the scrapings to rotate it. Now all we do is spin the bin on top of the wheels. This replaced our compost bin that we had for over a year which did not produce much soil for us because we did not rotate the scrapings much. We can tell that this tumbler is working because we can feel the heat inside and see a good amount of soil.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and works well Just purchased a second unit. We find that we need more compost than we thought for our square foot gardening needs. This unit came assembled and ready to use. Fill it with browns and greens, put it in a sunny place and turn it once a week. In no time at all you will have nice dark rich compost to feed your garden. I would recommend this unit and am very pleased with mine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from this product seems good..... I have only had it a month or so. It is a little hard to turn it for an older person.....I am 65.....and I wonder if the wheel assembly may rust since it is not made of galvanized metal.....we'll see......but it is the right size, it arrived quickly and seems to be made well. It was not too expensive and is made of recycled materials. That is why I chose the product. And MADE IN THE USA!!!!.....the BEST reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Composter Tumbler Appears well built and assembly was very painless. Was concerned about the size of the door opening to remove compost with shovel, but the door is large enough to insert the shovel head for easy removal of compost. So far, I am pleased with the product and would recommend to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great composter! Previously, I purchased a compost bin that was more of a 4 sided box. While it held a lot, the squirrels managed to eat holes in the sides, as it was pretty thin. This one is much thicker and I anticipate it lasting much longer (and ward off the local critters) I also like that I can spin it in the yard, instead of turning the compost with a pitch fork. Much easier on the back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with this No assemble at all. Because I wanted to walk out my back door and dump kitchen waste, I didn’t need one without a bottom. I made a small platform on my small deck and this worked out real well. I no longer need to walk through the snow and cold in the winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice unit Will buy one more because I've already got this one filled, so I will have another to start more composting...durable...looks like it will last a while..
