This indoor-mounted timer is so easy to use you can forget the instructions. Its intuitive zone-by-zone scheduling allows you to set watering times differently for each area of the yard, providing greener results with less water. By turning the dial to each zone, you can easily set more or less watering for full sun and shaded areas, or water slopes and clay soils in short intervals to allow water to soak in, avoiding runoff. You can also set different timing and frequency of pop-up sprays vs. rotor zones and customize watering of trees and landscaped areas in Drip zones. Each zone’s setting can be reviewed easily in one view with a turn of the dial.

  • Controls up to 6 valves
  • Simple zone-by-zone setting allows you to customize watering schedules for each area of your yard
  • No complex programming – just turn the dial to a zone, then choose start time, watering duration and days of week
  • 1-touch seasonal adjustments allow you to increase watering in hot, dry months and reduce it in rainy periods
  • Long lasting durability with superior surge protection plus a sealed case to protect against moisture, insects and grime
  • Color coded terminals make it easy to connect zone wires as well as master valves, pump start relays or a rain sensor
  • Large easy-to-read screen and lighted buttons allow you to review settings at a glance
  • Includes timer, transformer with 6 ft. cord plus installation guide

Answer:
Yes. There is a battery that will only keep the time during outages, it does not power the timer during a scheduled water event.

Answer:
Hmm. That is a statement, not a question. I installed this timer, and if you follow the instructions it is very easy. However, it will NOT allow you to schedule watering days on an interval (i.e. 10 days). If you need to do this, buy an Orbit brand.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 47 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to setup and use. The timer was very easy to setup and use. Simple programming of each zone, with selection of day and duration. I have two timers and the original one about 6 years old is still running. The second timer for some reason stopped working after two years. The recent purchase is the replacement for the second timer. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EASY....! Watch all the videos before install! So, I cannot attest to longevity, because I just installed it. We were replacing a 14 year old Irritrol. Should have done this years ago as we've been replacing part after part, but never knew the timer was the real culprit... and solenoids are expensive! WATCH the videos on this site, it explains how easy it all is. AND, if you want it to run zone after zone, it will be smart enough to know that, just make all the zones start at the same time. It took me about 10 minutes to install, and only that long because I had to cut the stripped wires down a little bit. I'm a 42 yr old woman and a little bit handy, but it was easy, really.... and it beats this antiquated Irritrol by a zillion miles! July 12, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rain sensor Joke; easy simple system; Wire connection difficult slots. The rain sensor has a bypass/loop. Connected my zone wires and the common wire to the system. it started working. Deciding the frequency of the watering for each zone was simple and did not require a manual. Although users cannot decide exact 2nd or 3rd time watering during the same day (determined the system at their fixed intervals), it is fairly easy to get water to the roses and shrubs more times than the yard that requires only twice a week. Rain sensor has a loop that should be complete for the water to come out of the sprinkler. by default, they have put a wire. I removed it hoping to connect my stranded wires from the wireless rain sensor - the sprinkler would not start. So I finally gave up and SHOVED A solid 18 gauge wire through its.. and the sprinkler started working. so I had to use the rain delay switch because I know the weather at any time of the week for the next few days. this push in wire connector is not working properly. my previous rainbird model had screw type and that would helped me get my rain sensor to work. this product needs some re-thinking as far as the connectors are concerned. after the pain I went through, I am going to reduce the stars from 4 to 3. it is not automatic because I have to set the rain delay otherwise it would come off and I would get a ticket from the city. regards ravi. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy To hook up Fast and easy. Good product. Keep in mind that it is for inside use only. February 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rain Bird should be making bird houses instead of Sprinkler Timers. They are clueless! This timer does NOT have the ability to schedule watering days at intervals. Example: I need to water my citrus trees every 10 days in the summer, every 15 days in spring and fall, and every 20 days in the winter. This timer only allows scheduling on days of week or even or odd days. Hard to believe! I have an 18 year old orbit the can schedule on day intervals. This is a must have feature. I returned it to Home Depot for a full refund and will be purchasing the newer version of an Orbit timer. By the way, the Orbit brand is cheaper! I would not recommend the Rain Bird to anyone. It is hard to believe Rain Bird would leave out such and important scheduling feature. Bye bye Birdie! P.S. Home Depot employees in the plumbing department are NOT aware of the lack of this feature. Do NOT believe them if they tell you it will schedule in interval days. READ THE MANUAL! December 9, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by rainbird phone support nonexistent I waited 30 minutes on hold, then gave up. No help. All I wanted was a few simple answers to some basic questions about the battery, and setting a station to run more than 12 hours apart on the same day. And yes, I went to their online site, as they told me on the phone. Again, no help. Trial and error method, I guess. December 14, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Blank Display Screen FIXED I replaced my 25 year old Rain bird with the SST 600i 2 years ago. It was easy to set up and use. I replaced my old rain gage with a new one and the whole set up has worked wonderfully. I shut it off during the rainy summer. This year, the 3rd year, when I turned it back on the display screen was blank. I looked in the users manual and searched online for troubleshooting but nothing I found worked (what I found was to unplug it for 3 minutes). So I started taking it apart to see if I could figure it out myself, it was useless right? If you pop the bottom guard, where the wires are connected, there is a little hole with "Reset" embossed under it. I pushed a pencil in there for 5 seconds and when I released it the display screen came back on. It had remembered my settings for when the zones should run but I had to reset the date and time. From now on I will shut the unit off AND unplug the power supply. Everything I read says the blank screen was due to a power surge. Can't have a power surge if it isn't plugged in, right? Hope this saves somebody else a little time! November 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement part by owner Easy to install. had to extend some wires to reach. Works fine. Would recommend. Hope it lasts as long as my first one. November 10, 2015
