Product Overview

This indoor-mounted timer is so easy to use you can forget the instructions. Its intuitive zone-by-zone scheduling allows you to set watering times differently for each area of the yard, providing greener results with less water. By turning the dial to each zone, you can easily set more or less watering for full sun and shaded areas, or water slopes and clay soils in short intervals to allow water to soak in, avoiding runoff. You can also set different timing and frequency of pop-up sprays vs. rotor zones and customize watering of trees and landscaped areas in Drip zones. Each zone's setting can be reviewed easily in one view with a turn of the dial.

  • Controls up to 6 valves
  • Simple zone-by-zone setting allows you to customize watering schedules for each area of your yard
  • No complex programming - just turn the dial to a zone, then choose start time, watering duration and days of week
  • 1-touch seasonal adjustments allow you to increase watering in hot, dry months and reduce it in rainy periods
  • Long lasting durability with superior surge protection plus a sealed case to protect against moisture, insects and grime
  • Color coded terminals make it easy to connect zone wires as well as master valves, pump start relays or a rain sensor
  • Large easy-to-read screen and lighted buttons allow you to review settings at a glance
  • Includes timer, transformer with 6 ft. cord plus installation guide

Each zone can be programmed for any time and day, NOT date.. If you can't program it near cycles because a chosen time is not ideal, then just flip your PM to AM, or AM to PM for your current time.. IT WON'T PROGRAM for a watering during PM time!
The cycles are timed by hours intervals during a day. For example, if you choose 2 cycles per day, do you want it 2, 4, 8 or 12 hours apart?.. Only the Read More

Answer:
If, for example, you have two general locations, such as a front and a back yard, -you should have two common (ground) wires. Each sprinklers will have a power on it determined by zones.
To simplify it even more, see the existing wires designated zones as 1, 2, 3 etc. Just tape a number on it then follow the same numbers to be installed on the new system.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by New irrigation clock I replaced my old Toro Clock which was about 13 yrs old. The Rainbird has basically the same functions and was an easy hook up. I took a picture of the old connections and installed them the same on the new clock. I do not have a cover as it is and inside clock but I may get one to keep the dust off it.Overall it has been working as expected. If you want a simple replacement or a new timer I would recommend this one. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by You'll need your reading glasses The programmable keypad for our sprinkler system stopped functioning and oh what a pain. This one was recommended to me on Neighbor to Neighbor and so I went and purchased one. We are not handymen at our house so we hired our plumbers to hook it up and it works fine. FYI you don't really need a plumber, there is no piping to be hooked up, just some wiring. Once it was programmed we let it roll. The writing on the keypad is small and I needed my reading glasses to see what was what especially since it is installed at slightly higher than my eye level. I got a sharpie and wrote a larger M, T, W, etc on the keypad for the days and used similar abbreviations so I could see to find everything. With that one drawback, the keypad is working well. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase I purchased this irrigation time to replace the HUNTER X-CORE that was installed when our irrigation system was installed 4 years ago. The timer just lost it's mind and kept cycling over and over until I'd shut it off. This RAIN BIRD SST600I had good reviews and a more familiar name. Installation was very simple and straight forward as was programing it. I'm very happy with the product and would definitely recommend it. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well, a little differently then the Rainbird controller it replaced but I can read the display much better. Setup was easy. Works well, a little differently then the Rainbird controller it replaced but I can read the display much better. Setup was easy and seemed very logical to follow the instructions after doing it once I became skilled at it. The larger display is a great benefit for those of us with older eyes. July 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product Great product Initially a little difficult to navigate July 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Downgraded this model Rain Bird cheapened this model compared to the last. Wire connection don't work as well and are hard to load. They dropped the every 3 day watering auto cycle option. since weeks have odd number of days it is not possible to set this up on the new controller. It does have some built in diagnostics and handles a master valve (MV). Not as good as the old model. July 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easiest sprinkler timer I have ever used. My favorite feature of this timer is that each station has it own settings. You can set each zone with a specific day(s) of the week, specific time of day, and specific amount of time. And it is really easy to program all those specifics. July 5, 2016
