Product Overview

Mutual Industries 6 ft. x 300 ft. Black Non Woven Filter Fabrics are an economical alternative to graded aggregate and sand filters. They can eliminate many of the problems associated with using, purchasing and transporting aggregate. Non-woven geotextile is also used as asphalt overlay fabric. Overlay fabric increases pavement life by providing a solution for reflective cracking. In addition, non-woven geotextiles are used in landscaping applications such as fabric to retard weed growth. They are also useful for separation, performing well under such diverse applications as paver walkways or railroad track. As cow carpet, they provide farmers with a solution to mud problems and improve animal health.

Customer Questions & Answers

Is this product actually 10mm thick, as stated in the specifications?

Asked by: Greg
You need to correct this ad and it would be nice to have a photo showing the fabric and not just a photo or the roll from a distance (what does that indicate?) Definition: Millimeter A millimetre (American spelling: millimeter, symbol mm) is one thousandth of a metre Definition: Mil A mil is a measurement equal to 1/1000 of an inch.

will this fabric allow water to pass through

Asked by: thomhoren2
Mutual Industries has a data sheet for their 3.5oz non-woven geotextile product (this stuff). It can be found here: The flow rate listed is 110 gallons per minute for a square-foot section of the material. Not quite two gallons per second. Although I don't know what kind of test is used to determine the flow rate, it is safe to say that water will quickly pass through this filter fabric.

Customer Reviews

6 ft. x 300 ft. Black Polypropylene Non Woven Filter Fabric is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff Perfect for covering my mostly dead rear lawn (1100 square feet). The fabric is fairly heavy duty. I plan to cover it with playground fiber. The roll is large and somewhat unwieldy at first but it gets the job done fast due to the 6' width. I got the 6" white staples which are okay but kind of flimsy in hard ground. If your ground is really hard I recommend 60d spikes with shiner disks (available at a Surveyors Supply store).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worked great for me I used this material in an unusual application. I needed something to lay down over grass to create a parking area for my three trailers. This product worked perfectly, cuts easily and is lightweight enough for one person to handle but seems durable so far. It's a temporary situation as I will build a shop next summer, but i hope to reuse this in the ground/foundation prep.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from filter fabric for french drain I bought this fabric to limit silt buildup in a french drain I was installing. The drain was only 35 feet long, unfortunately, the fabric width I needed was only sold in 300 ft lengths. The material installed fine and was easy to use. How well it keeps out the silt is yet to be known. All in all, a good product at a reasonable price. Can also be used for weed mulching.
