Customer Questions & Answers

how does one person close the4" metal dryer vent pipe to make it into a 4" circle?

Asked by: wbf
As a sheetmetal worker, in a past life, I have done this several thousand times. The easiest way I have found is to lay the pipe on tee ground, lock edges up, and get on your knees over it. Pull one end a comfortable distance away from you and hold the pipe close together with your knees while pushing the lock together at the end. Once it snaps together, keep pressure on it between your hands and slide back toward yourself and push another piece of the lock together, then repeat. At some point, the pipe will just snap itself together, and your work is done. Remember, if you don't keep pushing the lock edges together, the whole thing will spring open, and you'll have to start all over.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lab Proof! Definitely not the intended purpose but I used this to wrap around the refrigerant lines and wires to the A/C unit in the back year to protect it from further damage from our aggressive chewing lab!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and assemble I needed 6 inch ducting to install a new bypass humidifier. I measured, used a sharpie to draw a line then cut it to size with WissRight-Cut Aviation Snips. It snapped into round easily and took less than a few minutes to get it into place. Look up a video on snapping this together if you have troubles. I checked one out before giving it a go and it was not a problem to zip it together. Remember to use leather gloves when cutting or handling cut metal. These edges can be sharp!
