Answer:
If you mean "does it substitute for 1 hour fire rated Sheetrock" most likely no. Foil and fiberglass are insulators, not fire containment materials. But check with whatever agency enforces your locally adopted fire code for a better answer on how you want to install it. Local codes and code interpretations vary and it often comes down to what the local inspector will approve.

Yes, It fully meets UL181 Cass 1, NFPA 90A + 90 B, IBC, and Calif. Bureau of Home Furnishing & Thermal Insulation. It is the same as being installed beneath the floor in a home. Please call Technical Services at 800-211-9612, M-F 8A-5P EDT, for assistance with any additional questions.

Answer:
It's not very dense, so muffling is probably minimal. I'd personally use something heavier for that application, such as mineral wool or something else marketed for accoustics.

Answer:
Yes, flex duct does not make any noise when in operation. The pliability of this product does not allow any popping noise during operation. Any existing metal ductwork would be subject to noise during operation. Please call MasterFlow Technical Services at 800-211-9612, M-F 8A-5P ET, with any additional questions.

It's just regular fiberglass as far as I know, so probably not. Personally I would not use it in that situation.

I have metal sheet ducts coming out of my AC and I've read that faced insulation is recommended to act as a moisture barrier.

Answer:
Our Insulated Duct Wrap is 60 Sq. Ft. (2ft. x 30ft), of Mylar faced insulation. Wrapping your metal ductwork keeps you AC ducting from sweating during the AC season. Not as a moisture barrier but a moisture preventer. Please call our Technical Services Group at 800-211-9612 with any additional questions.
