No, you have a choice of Heat Off Coo on the first button. If you are on Cool, hit the left button on the bottom of the unit with your finger and the current setting will flash "Cool". Hit the button one more time and "Heat" will flash; once more for "Off".e

The Honeywell RTH7500 does have the option of being set up so it can automatically switch between heating and cooling. That would be part of the installer set up and customization for the thermostat. Information on the RTH7500, including the owner's guide, is available at the following link:

It is SUPPOSED to auto switch from cooling to heating. But I, and a bunch of other people on Amazon, ended up with mis-labeled units, so the auto-switch feature does not work. I am going to get a new unit at the store.

I would say no, I'm an electrician, and typically you need a T-stat that has a relay inside capable of the amperage of your floor heating you wish to turn on/off. Answer:
In addition to what's mentioned here already about how the main panel is detachable so that you may program in your armchair (or a beanbag chair I imagine, but perhaps not a chaise lounge), you can also move the armchair closer to the thermostat or install the unit near your armchair or even use some kind of extension pole to work the keypad from your chair if your eyesight is good enough.

Answer:
The front panel of the thermostat which contains the display, batteries and the programming electronics will detach from the wall plate. You can then program the unit from a more comfortable position. When you are finished programming then you can re-attached the front panel to the wall plate and your new program will be active.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 103 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Versatile Replacement Thermostat I used the 7-Day Universal Programmable Thermostat to replace my older unit, which is no longer available. This unit is designed to replace a large variety of other thermostats. Installation was straight forward and easy. I needed to call customer service twice for help with special questions. Customer service was easy to reach and knowledgeable. This is a huge plus. It works just fine. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great thermostat Temperature variance is very small with only a 1° swing. (Old one was 2°-3° and frustrating!) Easy to read panel (even in a dark room) with the back light and large font. Installation took about 8 minutes, but the wires had to be forced into position. Programming isn't hard but does take several minutes to run through all the days and options. Overall, very pleased with this purchase, especially coupled with the savings of Home Depot's "buy of the day". June 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy and easy to install! I bought two of these units and wish I had done this years ago. A great buy... easy to install... and they work great. You get the quality thermostat, easy to follow instructions, and the customer service backup you expect from Honeywell. June 2, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lasted 5yrs before it killed itself In 2011, we purchased 2 identical units in store and installed ourselves. Recently, our main air conditioner stopped cooling below 2 or so degrees. We had no idea it was the thermostat. We wasted some energy and and $180 hvac tech bill to determine that this thermostat had stopped functioning properly. We own a Honeywell Prestige (2011) and have now purchased a Lyric. The first has an outdoor temp sensor and indoor temp sensor & remote and the later has geofencing to adjust your heat when you leave your "home settings" zone. I would recommend these more expensive, better featured and longer lasting units. November 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Money saver I bought this programmable thermostat for my office/shop. We don't need the heat or a/c running all night, just when we are in the office. Great features, easy to install, and easy to use. It has different settings for weekdays and weekends. It kicks on a little while before we arrive in the morning and back off as we are leaving in the evening. Plus, it saves us money. It paid for itself the first month. January 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Super Programmable Thermostat This multi- level thermostat was very easy to install and works great. Now we are saving money by the auto settings that cool us at night and warm us in winter. Have recommended to a couple of friends that still have the standard types. February 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great money saver! The instructions were easy to follow. It took very little time to changeover from the old mercury style to the new programmable thermostat. It has really made a difference on our heating bills. December 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Keepin' us warm Thermostat! This thermostat was very easy to install and program. You don't even need the directions to reprogram. It is very straight forward and intuitive. Will recommend this to everyone! December 10, 2014
