No, you have a choice of Heat Off Coo on the first button. If you are on Cool, hit the left button on the bottom of the unit with your finger and the current setting will flash "Cool". Hit the button one more time and "Heat" will flash; once more for "Off".e

It is SUPPOSED to auto switch from cooling to heating. But I, and a bunch of other people on Amazon, ended up with mis-labeled units, so the auto-switch feature does not work. I am going to get a new unit at the store.

I would say no, I'm an electrician, and typically you need a T-stat that has a relay inside capable of the amperage of your floor heating you wish to turn on/off. In addition to what's mentioned here already about how the main panel is detachable so that you may program in your armchair (or a beanbag chair I imagine, but perhaps not a chaise lounge), you can also move the armchair closer to the thermostat or install the unit near your armchair or even use some kind of extension pole to work the keypad from your chair if your eyesight is good enough.

Answer:
The front panel of the thermostat which contains the display, batteries and the programming electronics will detach from the wall plate. You can then program the unit from a more comfortable position. When you are finished programming then you can re-attached the front panel to the wall plate and your new program will be active.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from On/Off Cycling Not Energy Efficient I've owned this model for three years and have called Honeywell on at least two occasions for the same problem. From the very beginning, I noticed the unit would cycle the furnace on/off repeatedly at the set temperature. From my programming background, I know this to be an issue with what is called "hysterisis". This happens because the electronics have some variation in their readings. For instance, if the thermostat is set to 70 degrees, the furnace should go on once the temperature goes below 70 and turn off when it goes above 70. But the temperature sensor could signal 69.9 degrees one second and 70.1 the next second. This Honeywell unit will turn on the furnace in this case, start up the gas burners and then turn them off once the blower starts to send the heat through the ducts. This is not energy efficient and if the gas/electric companies were smart, they would disallow rebates on this model. The program should have hysterisis programmed so the furnace turns on at 69.5 for instance and doesn't turn off again until 71, for example (would be nice if this was user programmable). When I first called, I was told this was a "feature" and the display accuracy (which in my example never changes from 70 degrees) was different than the actual temperature so the unit was functioning properly. I called again earlier this year to ask if they had a software update and I was told no but "I could just go to Home Depot and buy another Honeywell thermostat". Not going to happen. If you don't believe or understand the issue with this thermostat, just Google the model and "cycling".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent thermostat. I'm a Master HVAC Contractor. In my years Honeywell has always produced a quality product. The average trouble with the thermostat is one where it is installed and two how it is installed. Remember these thermostats monitor the wall as well as the air temperature. If you have installed it on an outside wall it's going to think it's outside. Honestly, I have never found the product itself to be at fault on any service call. But, I have seen thermostats installed in interesting places.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Versatile Replacement Thermostat I used the 7-Day Universal Programmable Thermostat to replace my older unit, which is no longer available. This unit is designed to replace a large variety of other thermostats. Installation was straight forward and easy. I needed to call customer service twice for help with special questions. Customer service was easy to reach and knowledgeable. This is a huge plus. It works just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job Simple DIY project that can save money. This is a no brainer and I would highly recommend. The programming of this unit was the easiest of all the brands/models I have used previously and it looks nice when completed.
