Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Granddad This is a great jointer. It is easy to use and has worked great on several projects so far. Instructions easy to follow and it works as a great alternative to Kreg screws when making table tops. The jointer cuts down on the sanding time as it aligns the tops of the wood. I work with salvage wood when I can so I appreciate this tool and what it does in that regard. It cuts fast and accurate. The only problem is that the wood chips clog up in the tube if you use the bag. I resolved this by just not using the bad and got out the broom. A little messy but worth the finished product.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Motor Porter Cable Plate Joiner
The joiner was easy to use and adjust. The only problem seems to be with the discharge of the saw dust. The discharge chute is too small and clogs up easily causing the discharge to remain in the biscuit cut and all over the floor. I could have got the same result from the $99 Ryobi with the same flaw.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KRich Easy to use
The Porter-Cable plate jointer works as advertised. Very easy to use and although I had never used a device like this I was able to quickly and easily join three planks of old 1920's reclaimed barn wood to make a top for a deck coffee table. The result was very pleasing and sturdy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smitty Excellent price, excellent product
Got a great deal thru Home Depot Online. After exhaustive reviews of competing biscuit jointers I chose the Porter Cable 557. Right out of the box it performed as advertised. The one common complaint is that the dust collection system is inferior; this seems to be true but I found that it depends on the type of wood used and the moisture content. Kiln dried pine works great with no blockage whatsoever whereas stock Doug Fir is not so good and you have to check the vac hose and the cut slot for debris. That aside, this is a GREAT tool that's very easy to use, with accurate settings. I enthusiastically recommend this.

Read many professional reviews and decided on the Porter Cable. Works as described and very user friendly. I too would agree that the sawdust/wood chip bag is not as efficient as it should be but it was only a minor annoyance.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jerpa THIS over ALL other Biscuit Joiners!!!
I really held off buying a biscuit joiner, as I conducted months of research on them. Between the DeWalt, Makita, and Porter Cable - I am glad I held out for the price drop on this. It features excellent balance, sandpaper grip on the front of the joiner, so the joiner will not slip or slide against the wood stock like the others. Simple. Quick. Easy. EXCELLENT. This one takes the cake. Stop shopping and comparing - this is the one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WoodArtist Well built, great price
After reviewing plate/biscuit joiners Porter Cable appeared to have the best rating and Home Depot had the best pricing ... So I purchased it. I was not disappointed. It feels and appears well built. Cuts are smooth and accurate. All adjustments are accurate and work as intended. I also like that it has the option for a 2 inch blade and can use FF biscuits as well as a couple other settings not generally found on plate joiners.
Others have expressed concern of the dust port clogging, but so far this has not been an issue for me. No complaints at this time.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dave Another Quality Porter Cable Product
This plate joiner works just as described. I own numerous Porter Cable products and finally got the plate joiner I needed. It functions as well as all the other PC tools I own. Easy to use, handle and operate. I would recommend this one to anybody looking for a quality plate joiner. The case is a great addition!
