Will this withstand use with a wood burning stove?

Asked by: Zach
Would not recommend it, It is not designed to take that much heat.

which end is male / female

Asked by: woodbutcher
Reducer is universal, both ends are female. You need a splice to connect or a pipe with a male end... Male ends are crimped to slide inside the pipe and in the direction of airflow.

I'm looking over receipts and want to know what this would be used for?

Asked by: JustWannaKnow
I used it for my range hood. The opening in the ceiling was 7", and the piping provided in the range hood was 6". I assume you could use it for venting a dryer as well. Hope that helps!

What is the LENGTH? (When looking at the image), the distance from the left side to the right? Ok for range hood use?

Incredibly, the second most important spec is left out! What is the LENGTH? (When looking at the image), the distance from the left side to the right? And, can this adapter be used on a range hood? The one we want oddly has a 6" opening instead of the typical residential 7" (which is what the existing duct is). (I'd also like to know why is it impossible to FOLLOW-UP on a Q&A? We can't even THANK the people that reply! And why must we keep "logging in" and entering our info for EACH question asked, even on the SAME page, even though "Remember me on this device" IS CHECKED??) Thanks.
Asked by: Clint
Yes, it can be used with the range hood and it will work for both the 6 and 7 in ducts, overall length is approx 6 in

I used this to reduce the range hood from a 7" opening in the ceiling to the 6" pipe that came with the range hood. With a little maneuvering, it actually went around the outside of the opening in the ceiling (and this opening was several decades old and looked every bit the part). I affixed it with the aluminum tape. Two weeks in, and everything is still affixed!
