Answer: 
Not a good idea. It is plastic, not wood or cork. It can be pierced but like any plastic it will be deformed where you stick a tack or nail in it.

Looks like it could take thumb tacks. It's essentially plastic cardboard.

If I want to make a base for my rabbit cage, and not use L brackets, can I use glue. If so, what type of glue would work? Would a "cold" glue gun work?
