Model #COL-7281WH2R specifies opening of 80 - 81 inches, yet also specifies 80-1/2 - 81-1/2 inches. My closet opening is 80" high. Can this door set be installed on this opening?
Asked by: RoninHI
It probably can. My closet opening has the same dimensions and it fit fine.

Can this door be installed without cutting the carpet? Just got new carpet installed and not really in the mood to cut it right away. Could I just drill a hole through the carpet to install the bottom track?
Asked by: Matt
I installed mine without cutting the carpet but my carpet was a tight weave carpet and it works fine. Maybe it wouldent work good over a thick shag with a thick pad. The instructions say not to but mine works fine.

do these doors come in a 96 inch height?

Asked by: David
Our local Home Depot had both the 80" and the 96" in stock. We bought 2 of the 96" kits and they look great. Disregard the bad reviews to this product. The hardware works smooth and is adjustable. Use a little WD40 sprayed on the hardware to allow the height adjusting screw mechanism to work easier. The doors are made of hard enough material that should last for years if not abused. If you want to install heavier wooden doors then the price is four times the price of these doors.

But, they look very good and they slide very well. I purchased the 72x80 to replace my old sliding doors. Installation was easy, basically installing the bottom track, top track, and then inserting the doors and some minor adjustments. The hardest part of the install was the cutting of the top and bottom tracks with a hacksaw, as recommended in the instructions. The bottom track cut fairly easily, but the top track has 3 thin sections and there is much more to cut. If you have some good tin snips, you can use it for the top track and it will be much easier. There are also 2 plastic guides that snap on the top of each door that are a little difficult to get on. On mine, I had to use some pliers to bend the top of the metal edge to allow the plastic guide to fit properly. You'll understand what I mean when you try to install the plastic guides. The bending of the metal up top doesn't matter as it is hidden after the door is installed. Overall, it took about 45 minutes to install. It looks very good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Back looks like cardboard!! We found these online and happily went into our local store to purchase them as replacements for oak sliding closet doors. We were SHOCKED when we looked at the back of the doors. Not only are the backs no white, it doesn't even look like a door. It looks like a piece of molded cardboard. We were horrified... I can't believe Home Depot sells this product. While people aren't always looking at the interior of a closet, this would stick out to anyone who looks inside. Truly awful. Look at it in person before you consider buying. Very disappointed because this is the only type of "ready to go" doors they sell.

I thought it was actual doors, but they are not. They are thin, flimsy material and only the front side is white. The backside looks like cardboard. On a positive note, they were super easy to install (even though the directions show the top clips on backwards). Total installation took about ten minutes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from As with most other reviews, low quality product Let me save you some time by saying: "Don't get these unless you don't mind cheap, chinesse cardboard!". These doors are the worst product I've gotten from Home Depot. They're very thin, fragile and there is obvious lack of finish and detail. The install was simple but the plastic pieces are easily broken making it a pain in the butt to deal with. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone and I rather deal with Comcast customer support than see those doors ever again. Thanks.

These doors are not your standard door. Imagine cutting any door right down the middle and removing the back side. That's what this is. It's a shell - single front panel. On the back, you actually see the outline of the panels. I guess you could call it single ply. That means it will have no weight when hung. Totally flimsy. It's a single embossed piece of sheet metal. We're actually keeping them because it's only for a basement storage room that might be an occasional guest room -not even twice a year. At some point if we rent this home out (when we build), I do not expect these doors to hold up if renters use the room for a bedroom. For our current purpose to hide our boxes of stuff in a room we don't really use, they'll work.
