No, what you are needing is a water hammer arrestor. http://www.homedepot.com/p/SharkBite-1-2-in-Brass-Push-to-Connect-Residential-Water-Hammer-Arrestor-Tee-22630LF/204417388

Can this product be used for the stubout for a tube spout?

Running new pex water lines for bathroom remodel. I have been told both by Delta and Moen not to run pex to the tub spout. Not wanting to really learn how to work with copper tubing and fittings just for the tub spout, I was wondering if this product could be used for the new copper tub spout? Thanks in advance any help.

Yes, this stub out can be used for a tub spout. Once installed, you will need to cut the stub out to the desired length and sweat a copper male adapter to attach the spout. Thanks for your interest in out products.

Won't sweating a valve onto this ruin the pex joint inside the wall??

If I sweat a valve onto this it is going to heat up the entire piece including where it attached to the pex pipe (inside of the finished wall). Surely wrapping a wet towel around this as close to the wall as possible while attaching the valve is not the proper way. What is the correct way to do this??? Thank you!!
Asked by: MarcT
Hi Marc, The recommended way to do this is to crimp the PEX to the stubout behind the wall, hang the drywall, and then cut the end off the stubout and use a SharkBite Push to Connect angle or straight stop to connect to the stubout. With SharkBite PTC, there are no tools required. http://www.homedepot.com/p/SharkBite-1-2-in-Chrome-Plated-Brass-Push-to-Connect-x-3-8-in-O-D-Compression-Quarter-Turn-Angle-Stop-Valve-23036-0000LF/202270612?keyword=23036-0000lf
