Customer Questions & Answers

How many bricks do I need to cover a space 15ft x 15ft patio?

How much it cost?
Asked by: john
Here's an online brick calculator: http://www.inchcalculator.com/brick-calculator/ Put in 15 for width, 15 for length. Select "Standard" brick (from drop down menu) and $.35 for price. Results: Total Bricks: 1540 (about 6.9 bricks/sq ft.) Square Footage: 225.00 Cost: $539.00 There's lots of different size bricks, but the "Standard" in the selection list is closest. You may need to buy extra (overage) to have enough w/o running back to HD for more. If you choose a larger or smaller brick, be sure to recalculate. Are these heat resistant? Can they be used to hold up a grill in a wood fire bbq?

Asked by: Tedon
You would be better to use fire brick any where brick is exposed to flame. These bricks are of very poor quality soft and will absorb water. When you heat a brick full of water it can break apart from the steam generated.

It is so soft that I can scratch it with my fingernails. Who at H.D. would in their right mind purchase such a inferior product and put it in the store? On the pallet were some kind of hard bricks mixed in with mostly very soft bricks. Clearly there is 0 quality control going all the way back to the brick manufacturer through to Home Depot purchasing. I needed some brick to repair a brick wall on my house. There is no way I would trust this brick to be structurally sound. This brick is at the Home Depot on Kings Highway in St Louis Mo a city built of brick, so shame on H.D. for trying to sell this here. Oh and the picture shown looks nothing like what was on the pallet on the store floor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from happy with end result We used these for our 300 sqft patio and are very happy with the result! We didn't seem to have any issues with the size, they were all pretty much exactly 8x4 inches and a 90 degree herringbone pattern worked perfectly. These clay pavers are beautiful and look much more classy than the cement pavers, though i had to knock them down a star because they do tend to chip a little on corners and edges when using a mallet to tap them into place. It doesn't bother me too much and adds a little character.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Size stated is wrong! These bricks are supposed to be 8 inches long by 4 inches wide, they're not! They are 8inches long by 3 3/4 inches wide. Which makes them unsuitable for even spacing on certain paving patterns.
