I am always in need of cloths and rags for project clean up, cleaning the house and various chores household chores. When I received these cloths I was surprised to find such a large amount for this price point. The bag is very large and packed with cloths. The dimension of the bag were 12in x 14in x 5 inches. The material is like a very thick tee shirt material. I used them for cleaning in the house and for cleaning small imperfections while painting. They worked well in both applications. I plan to use them for various other cleaning, woodworking and engine projects as well. If you like having a large stash of clean cloths available you cant beat the value.

I'd prefer and recommend a different type of rag if you want consistency and absorbancy.
The good news is you get a lot of rags for a good price. But I don't like the material. The material has a ridging pattern (see attached photo) and looks to be some surplus from old fashioned men's T-shirts that could not be sold.
I also didn't find them to be super absorb-able.
Instead, I'll opt for plain-flat cotton thin shop rags next time, or stick with MY old T-shirts which seem to have much more absorbancy. I will say this: perhaps these have good lint characteristics. That might come in handy in some painting and staining situations. (I didn't get a chance to try staining with them.)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SWB1 ASSORTED SIZES OF CLEAN RAGS
I started to count how many rags were in the bag until I realized they were all different sizes and shapes. This means the number of rags could vary quite a bit from bag to bag. Some of the rags were as small as 6" X 6" and others, like in the photo, were 14" X 14". Some had a smooth finish while others were very textured. Also, they felt like they were made from a variety of materials. Some were slick like all polyester and some felt like they might have a little cotton in them. I think what is important is that they were all clean, smelled good and appeared to be made from brand new materials. Not recycled used clothing.

If you’re like me and regularly do handy work around the house, your family will eventually run out of old t-shirts, blankets, hankies, and undershirts that can be pilfered for rags. Lucky for us handy-people, HDX has a solution... 8 lbs of rags in a plastic bag. The rags are made of new textile by-products and aren’t someone’s old used clothes. They’re a blend of cotton, polyester, and rayon even though I would prefer 100% cotton. They're thinner than a 100% cotton t-shirt (like a cotton t that has been washed a few hundred times) and the sizes are also a bit random; nevertheless, they’re perfect for wiping primer, paint, stain, gasoline, motor oil, caulk, etc., etc. off my fingers. I only wish they were a bit less expensive.

This is a huge bag of assorted cloth scraps for various uses. The pieces range a bit in size and shape. I included a pic of examples of the various ones I found in my bag. I didn't find any that I thought were too small to be useful. I like that they are all white so its easy if you want to clean and reuse them by just washing them all with bleach. The texture of the cloth varies a little bit from piece to piece. The are all very soft - almost silky - and all have a bit of stretch to them, but some have a bit of texture, even ribbed, while most are perfectly smooth. Even those with texture are all soft enough that they are not going to scratch any surface. They are all pretty thin - not so thin that they would rip easily, but not very suited to any heavy duty work. This is why I didn't give them 5 stars - they are not completely "all-purpose", but will work well for anything but heavy duty jobs.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Unique07 Who couldn't use cleaning/painters cloths, painter or not a painter?!?!
I have several pets and I'm a little OCD so I can probably appreciate a 8 pound bag of cloths more than the average Joe unless you truly are a painter then you might get as much use out of the HDX rags as myself.
The cloths come in various sizes all being white which I have a shortage on. The material has a little bit of stretch to them, they actually feel strong and quite durable expected to get many uses out of them. I suppose they use this material so when painting the paint is not going to run through the cloth. The cloth absorbs, wipes and cleans liquids quite well. I will definitely get allot of use out of the cloths while cleaning and wiping up messes.
Yes a great buy for any household, inside of the house and uses for the outdoors especially would be of great use to have a supply in the garage for grease while working on cars.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ih82spd Wipe anything but liquid.
This is a bag of rags. They are not a consistent size, shape or thickness. Honestly, they are really thin, and look like they are cut up men's under shirts (the thin white tank top style). Some of these rags are very small 4"x4" maybe, and yet some are more along the size of 12"x18". I would not use these for anything liquid as they won't absorb very much. The range of size makes some of these rags useless. The bag says painter's rags, but having done quite a bit of painting myself, I would not use these for clean up, touch up, or wiping up over paint. I am unsure of how I will make these useful, maybe use them for applying stain?? Time will tell.
