This was purchased to replace some weather stripping on a Simpson door that my dog damaged. This weather stripping is far inferior to the OEM product that came with the door. The OEM product is thick and foamy. This product is a thin strip of plastic. I intend to return it and search for something more comparable to the OEM product.

I bought this to replace about a two-foot segment of the original weatherstripping my dog had chewed off on the bottom part of my front door. This was a perfect match for color and style of weatherstripping, so that was a very strong point. I simply cut the old weatherstripping about an inch or two above where it had been chewed up to make a square bottom edge, made a square cut on the new insulation, cutting it about an inch longer than needed. I butted the two square cuts together, inserted the flat side into the groove in the door jamb and ran it all the way to the bottom of the door. At the very bottom, I ensured it was tucked back inside the sill plate, cut off the extra material I had left to be sure it would be long enough, and that was it. The gap was sealed perfectly to light and any air loss or penetration.
Easy fix, effective, and very good value.

I probably should have paid more attention to the package. I thought I was getting replacement weatherstripping for the entire door. This package is just one 84" length -- good for one side of the door frame. It was very easy to install and sits well in the door frame. The door closes without any issue. I'll have to pick up a couple more packages to replace all around the door frame.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by FloridaGator Easy replacement installation if existing door frame has standard groves.
If your existing weatherstrip is worn, hopefully your door frame has standard groves that will allow you to install this replacement strip. Simply cut to length you need for either the door step or the side frames, remove the existing strip, and then install the new strip. For longer door frames, it can be difficult to pull the new strip through to the ends. I also would recommend leaving a little extra when you start since having the strip too short would negate its purpose of sealing the door frame when the door is closed. The corners are difficult, but if you cut on an angle, it should line up well enough to seal the corners as well.

My french door was missing one strip of weatherstripping right between the two doors. I ordered this online and received it super fast. It snapped right into the groove and even had a few inches to spare for me to make sure the entire length of the door is covered. Perfect.

If you need to replace one section of a door's weatherstrip this will do fine. One side of our front door's strip had worn out. We pulled the old strip out, wiped the door jamb clean with a rag and inserted this replacement. You will want to be sure that your door has a slot that matches this strip. No tools or adhesives needed, it installs in a minute.

2 days after moving into our bew home I felt a significant amount of cold air coming in on the knob side of the exterior door jambs. The top and hinge jambs have the magnetic compression stripping so i only needed 2 of these, one for each door. Ripped out the bulb type stripping on both doors and replaced with this. Can still see daylight but no more draft and im happy with that. Very easy to install and removing the old kerf stripping took some work but once it popped in ine place the redt came right out.
