Had to replace some burst copper pipes in my home after last weeks negative temperatures( middle of February 2016, Boston Ma). I am a plumber by trade and consider myself very good with a torch. However one of the areas I had to use a torch was the tightest I've ever dealt with. With this heat shield right behind the fittings and the flame aimed directly at it, I had no issues. Never used one before this but this will definitely be kept in my truck for future situations that are questionable. Definitely recommend

This heat shield is excellent. Was used right against studs with propane soldering and didn't leave a scorch mark at all and did not melt. The area we was soldering was large but this shield wasn't large enough so we ran to the local hardware store and bought another brand and put it side by side. The other brand failed the 1st time we used it and melted to the wire underneath. This heat shield held up to all of our soldering needs. Wish there was a larger size available and the hanger holes were on all 4 sides.

I have used this in a number of close quarters. In one case, a copper pipe ran right along a stud. With this I was able to solder it in a tight crawl space. The torch was directed right at the shield that masked the stud. The stud showed nothing. It's fine for propane (I can't say I'd go hotter than that - I just don't know).
I have used this to shield ceilings and painted areas. It's incredible. You think you can't solder in close spots or corners for fear of burns... end your problems by getting this amazing product.

Product worked just as it should. Had some close quarters with some studs soldering some copper pipe. After completion I checked the studs. It wasn't even warm to the touch.

This cloth works wonderfully if you're soldering in a wall! I've used scraps of sheet metal in the past, but it doesn't always fit where you need it. This will keep you from singeing the adjacent drywall and studs.
