Answer:
No need to remove if installed correctly. After proper installation you can still remove your A/C unit and close your windows for winter season while leaving this in place on the outside.

Answer:
Installed properly, this will support A/C unit on the outside of the window, giving stability. This product has features that allows one to adjust the height during installation. You control how high your A/C unit sits in the window opening by adding more spacer pieces. It is pretty simple and straightforward to install.

Answer:
Yes it does. That really doesn't affect the A/C unit since the brace is essentially a rail that supports the entire unit. We had to add a couple of wood shims to raise up the retention clips but that really isn't necessary.

At Home Depot, I selected the appropriate bracket for the SIZE OF THE A/C unit I had purchased (i.e., 6000 BTU, 8000 BTU, 10,000 BTU). It is written right on the bracket and lets you know which one so you don't have to guess.

Answer:
As long as you install it where there is a window already it should work. Window frame is strong enough to support a/c and support bracket

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 61 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better safe... We recently purchased two AC unit(s) (8,000 BTU) for our one bedroom apartment. Both units are Frigidaire models and are fantastic (btw...go with Frigidaire, especially their' newer products are workhorses and great quality). We have two of these brackets, easiest install ever. All you need is a drill and a second pair of eyes (preferably) to get it setup. Honestly, one could do this one their own, but having two people, the AC unit and bracket were fully installed in less than 30 mins. Make sure you drill pilot holes first, do not just screw straight in and hope to god you got it straight...adjust and make sure the unit is slightly less than level...I digress, buy this little guy. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great item! Works as it should and is easy to install. Just make sure you read the instructions so you know how to set it up according to the heavier side of your AC unit, cause it will not be on center. June 21, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by http://m.homedepot.com/p/AC-Safe-Universal-Light-Duty-Air-Conditioner-Support-AC It works. A little snug and the larger one may have been a better buy forthis 5,000 btu a/c, but it's fine. June 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AC Support Support worked as advertised and was an easy install. Would recommend to others for light duty use. June 14, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by bracket too short I have a brick outside sill & the bottom support is not long enough to attach to support that the AC lays on. My Central air broke day before I was to have foot surgery. Got this to support a small room AC, 6000 BTU. Had to rig a way to hold the top support till I can figure out an attachment to make this bracket work. I would return, but needed something that day & scratched it up trying to make it work. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well Very easy to install and takes all the weight off the window. Can be installed very easily from the inside of the window, June 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Easy to install, price good, recommend, perfect size May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works and same as all other AC brackets WORKS may have some difficulity in windows with concrete sills as then u need hammer drill to put in fastener. All brands are the same so purchase the lowest priced bracket. Same company puts it in different brands for different vendors. Two sizes for 10,000 btu and under and above 10,000 btu May 19, 2016
