This bracket is less mess and uses 1 anchor point on the window sil. The other leg pushes against the wall - really great design. My only qualm is because of not much sill on my window. I had to permanently remove the screen from my window and I haven't found a work around for that.
But if your window has a long sill where you can install the bracket, you have an awesome solution. We bought it over a year ago to use with the window air conditioner unit. Paint has endured the east coast weather. May be after a year, small chips and wear little. By far the unit is sturdy.
From the outside of the house, you see less mess at the windows.

I saw this bracket on the Home Depot website and hoped it would perform in a way to make installing and uninstalling the window air conditioner easy. I've only used it on the installation but it gave such support to the air conditioner that removing it will be very easy. Last year, I dropped the old machine out the window while removing it for the winter. This bracket will eliminate that risk. The directions were easy to follow and all seems right with the world!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by RedRooster As advertised! Easy to install alone from inside the window!
I have an odd window casement in the house I recently purchased so the small AC unit I have would not fit neatly into the window without needing support on the other side. This support was just the right size and it was super easy to install. The directions were not the best (not the worst either) but included diagrams and pictures to demo so it didn't matter much. The level bubble is especially helpful so you can make sure you AC is tilted downward to the outside. It does require drilling into your window sill so be sure there is solid material to drill and screw into.

#1) This product is primarily designed for windows with well inset exterior sills. Using it on windows with less than 3 inches of exterior sill will make successful installation tricky for most DIY-ers. #2) Read the instructions thoroughly. #3) Read the instructions THOROUGHLY again. #4) READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! #5) the instructions can be a bit confusing, particularly the "balance" part, but they explain that a bit further in part 3 "Adjust for weight". Read the instructions carefully though and it will make sense. #6) you may not use all of the spacer blocks. I didn't end up using the concave or rounded spacer blocks at all and only one of the 2 other spacer blocks they give you in my installation. #7) Be Prepared To Improvise! Because my house has vinyl windows and an exterior sill slightly over an inch deep that is hollow plastic, I had to add an extra piece of moulding under it for the mounting screws to bite into for a secure mounting. But beyond that, the installation went as written and my AC unit sits securely in my window. It took about an hour not counting the extra trip to the lumber store for the piece of moulding. #8) if all this sounds like too much hassle, it probably is for you. Hire someone else to help you install your AC.
