Answer:
No need to remove if installed correctly. After proper installation you can still remove your A/C unit and close your windows for winter season while leaving this in place on the outside.

Answer:
At Home Depot, I selected the appropriate bracket for the SIZE OF THE A/C unit I had purchased (i.e., 6000 BTU, 8000 BTU, 10,000 BTU). It is written right on the bracket and lets you know which one so you don't have to guess.

Answer:
As long as you install it where there is a window already it should work. Window frame is strong enough to support a/c and support bracket

Answer:
Installed properly, this will support A/C unit on the outside of the window, giving stability. This product has features that allows one to adjust the height during installation. You control how high your A/C unit sits in the window opening by adding more spacer pieces. It is pretty simple and straightforward to install.

Answer:
Yes it does. That really doesn't affect the A/C unit since the brace is essentially a rail that supports the entire unit. We had to add a couple of wood shims to raise up the retention clips but that really isn't necessary.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 53 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent- And Cheaper On Linen!! I saw this in Home Depot and was ready to buy one for the window A/C unit I put in my garage every year (I take it put every winter but wanted o be prepared). Before I got to the checkout I used my phone to check reviews on an on-line retailer, and boy am I glad I did. I found the *exact* same unit for about 1/2 of what Home Depot was charging!!! Needless to say, I ordered the one from the on-line retailer and put the one in my cart back. 3 days later the exact same unit arrived at my home. Haven't installed it yet, but in any event I am already happy that I saved $10!! January 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Now I know why there were so many returns This came with long screws that would not go into the window sill. I went and purchased shorter screws with the same result. I don't know what's under my sill but it's impermeable by these screws. And I had followed the directions to the letter. November 12, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A/C supports for Alice's air conditioners I purchased two of these for my older sister's two A/C units - I haven't heard a bad word out of her about them so, I guess these worked as well as one can expect them to...thanks! October 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AC window brace Very good product for support, highly recommended! October 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Solid Mounting Hardware - However, Be Ready to Improvise My installation required building-up supports both inside and outside of the bottom window frame. If you are installing a combination AC / Dehumidifier, you probably do not want the mount to be level, but slope downward a few degrees to direct the condensation out the back drain holes of the AC. This means that you do NOT want to perfectly center the bubble in the built-in level. I suggest centering the bubble on the line closest to the window frame for an optimal downward slope. My end result is a solid installation with good drainage and no resonate vibrations (noise) from the AC to the window frame. June 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Installation Aid Really simplifies installation and improves safety. The A/C unit can't fall after you have this installed. Also makes it really easy to level the unit. Don't understand some of the comments about the brace. It's long enough unless you have a very wide non standard sill. Did have some issues with the rubber foot of the brace slipping on the vinyl siding. But foot is encased in a metal housing so we just drilled a 1/8" hole through the housing and put a #8 sheet metal screw through the siding into the substrate holding the siding. Comes with all the fasteners you need. Has multiple spacers to fit any sill height. More than adequate for a single room window A/C. June 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy and safe. Thus support shelf was easy for my carpenter to install. It supports the air conditioner and protects the window from damage due to the weight of the air conditioner. September 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good product easy to install and supports well also comes in two sizes for heavier units. September 27, 2015
