Rated 5 out of 5Â by viking1 Best product on the market for maintaining attic ventilarion
The Durovent with Baffle Attic Vent Channel was lightweight, made of long lasting polystyrene, moisture resistant, easy to install, with a stapler. The Durovent had a top plate block attached to prevent insulation from entering the soffet area. The baffling assures sufficient path for air movement for proper attic ventilation, especially for blown in insulation. This product is a much better product than the old card board top plate block and is a primary step for proper attic insulation, decreasing energy cost in my home. My cost for Durovent baffles was $125 for my entire home, including the garage. You can guess what it would the bill could be without proper attic ventilation.

With two fold seams it was not 100% evident to me what flaps along the length were to be on which side of which. I would have expected some simple instructions with pictures. Also working on your belly in the attic with no head clearance near the eaves it is difficult to be really gentle getting these into position. These are pretty fragile and the only one of these I installed tore slightly. I only had one I had to install now because the home's original vent had come down and instulation was getting blown clear of the bedroom ceiling resulting in really bad localized heat loss. I will install the rest I bought next spring to add more ventilation to keep the attic cooler. I did not know what the original vents looked like until I got into this project where I had to pull back blown in insulation. The existing vents consisted of roll fiberglass installation cut the width between joists and stuffed in completely blocking off ventilation from the eaves. Then a vent only about 8 to 10 inches wide was wedged on top of that with some stapples only at the bottom end (may have been shoved in from outside during origingal home construction). They were installed every other pair of joists. What I like about these Duravents are they are full width providing two to three times the cross sectional area for ventilation AND the end folds down to serve as the air block instead of the cut fiberglass insulation. Given there was already cut roll insulation I put that back on the inside of the Duravent before redistributing the blown in insulation. It was the fold down end that forms the vertical air block to keep insulation from getting blown in which was why I chose these. Bottom line is these are a good solution but it would be nice to have instructions and it would be nice if they were a little tougher as these tear really easily on shingle nails. .

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Franco Oustanding product!
Timely shipping with no damaged pieces. These baffles are the best thing since "sliced Bread". Easy to use and far sturdier than they appear when you first see them. Highly recommend this product to anyone insulating an attic; be it initial build or adding insulation.

These are certainly better than the flimsy ones that nail to the bottom of the decking and, as well, they provide more air flow.

The vents arrived in good condition and sooner that promised. They were easy to handle and install and are of good quality and a good value. I was concerned they might be flimsy but was surprised at how tough they really were. Great product and good value.
