Product Overview

Each carton contains 10 Vents. The ADO Products Durovent 23-1/2 in. x 46 in. Attic Ventilation System with Built-In Baffle helps keep air moving in your attic. The ventilation system features polystyrene construction, which is lightweight and moisture resistant, and the integrated baffle means that you need no blocking material between the vent and the top plate.

  • Install between rafters to provide an unobstructed air channel through insulation to help keep air flowing freely from soffits to ridge vents
  • Ideal for high-volume new construction or inexpensive re-insulation
  • Designed to friction-fit between the rafters or trusses with the vent's cones pushed up against the roof deck
  • Secure the vent in place by stapling the wide nailing flanges to the truss and top plate by using a horizontal stroke with your hammer tacker (hammer tacker not included)
  • Polystyrene material provides a lightweight air channel
  • Water resistant and durable, blocking out moisture and wind from penetrating the attic, to satisfy most building-code requirements
  • Economical way to meet energy code requirements for air flow
  • Integrated baffle eliminates the need for blocking material such as batt insulation between the vent and the wall top plate, as is commonly the practice for installation of rafter vents without an integral baffle

Answer:
Yes. That's the best way to do it. Simply clean out the old insulation if any is in the way, bend the end of the baffle to the approximate pitch of the roof. Push into place and then staple to the rafters.

Answer:
No that would be impractical, especially how this specific product is molded to aid in the installation from underneath the rafters. You might be able to find other products that act as the same type of ventilation that is molded differently to suit your needs in that manner.

Answer:
This is made for 24 inch on center trusses. You should measure about 22.5 inch gap from one edge to the other. This is made of of Styrofoam which flexes to fit the gap.

Answer:
No! This is a fragile material that is simply meant for use as a air baffle. To waterproof the underside of a deck / porch I would go with poly-carbonate roof panels. But it sounds like you are trying to protect the joists on the porch. For that I would take up the boards on the porch, put down sheathing and then apply a waterproof rubber roofing membrane before putting the porch boards back down.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by worked perfect easy to handle fit was perfect and stayed in place until it was stapled. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best product on the market for maintaining attic ventilarion The Durovent with Baffle Attic Vent Channel was lightweight, made of long lasting polystyrene, moisture resistant, easy to install, with a stapler. The Durovent had a top plate block attached to prevent insulation from entering the soffet area. The baffling assures sufficient path for air movement for proper attic ventilation, especially for blown in insulation. This product is a much better product than the old card board top plate block and is a primary step for proper attic insulation, decreasing energy cost in my home. My cost for Durovent baffles was $125 for my entire home, including the garage. You can guess what it would the bill could be without proper attic ventilation. November 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Air flow accomplished Baffle easy to work with, modify and install. It was shipped and received within a reasonable amount of time. Would order again May 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Soffit baffle in new construction Installed. Durovent styrofoam material is rather thin, easily torn by roofing nails, wood splinters, etc. Depending on pitch of roof, may not be long enough to be deep enough for desired blow in insulation. Covered 2x6 top plate well enough. 2x4 truss, not very high, hard to staple well here. Vent fit well between rafters. I read staples pull through over time and vents fall down. Use a second outer material to staple through? Not just the foam. April 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Work very well Just what I needed. Planning on adding another 15 inches of insulation to the attic over the old insulation. No baffles had ever been put in before so I needed to install them. Good Product. Easy to install. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product Great product, easy to work with, very delicate so patience and care are needed while handling March 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product, easy installation Easily installed single handedly. Allows soffit vents to perform as intended. March 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Reasonable solution The foam could benefit from more tear resistance but these seem to fit nice and function well. I'm installing them in an the attic of a finished home with a 4-12 roof, which is pure torture, so maybe that last star is deserved and I just can't give it. December 15, 2015
