Answer:
You'll want a 12v DC power supply with a barrel plug that can connect to the remote control unit (the white box). The product overview states, "Work with 12VDC output power supply, DC plug dimension: 5.52.1mm." While it comes with a 5.52.1 mm barrel plug, I just tossed it and used one that came with my 12v power adapter. The picture below is something similar to the one I used. It ran me about $15.

I just received mine and I need a power supply that is sold separately. There is a more expensive one that has the power supply included. I would have purchased that one if I had known.

There are connectors available that will allow you to join led strip lights together as well as create right angles (very helpful when I was installing these in my room). I doubt Home Depot has them, but you can find them on Amazon pretty easily. They're easy to use and require no soldering, a bonus in my case since I've always been terrible at soldering.

Look up an Amazon marketplace seller called "Torchstar." It's where I got mine. They're well reviewed and I've had an overall positive experience with them. You can also get parts to connect two separate strips together if you need to as well as mounting brackets. The 3M backing on these lights has proven solid so far, but I don't want to find out it's less that stellar in a month and have to break out the ladder, so I took the extra time to secure them in a more permanent way. Does anyone have a lumen-rating for these? I'm looking at using these as a comparable light-source replacement to a frost-covered 4-T8 Fluorescent ceiling kitchen lighting fixture over the island. Doesn't need to be full-brightness, but close would be preferable. If I can get this close, even with a couple of these, this would be MUCH cheaper than dumping around $700 for LED T8 bulbs & a dimmable ballast.

Answer:
I used them to replace my bedroom lights. The variable color lets me change the overall feel of a room with the push of a button. I imagine you could use them in your kitchen as well. For reference, my bedroom is less than 10' by 20' though I can't remember exact dimensions off the top of my head.

Yes. There are a number of places you can pick up cheap connectors that make it easy. The metal tabs in the connectors (pictured below) touch the nodes on both strip ends. No soldering is required. Only caveat I'll throw out there is make sure the strips match up. That is to say, you'll see "RGB+" marked on the strips. Make sure that when you connect two strips, R is lined up with R, B with B, etc. Otherwise you could have problems. I had one I put in backwards and couldn't get it to turn any color other than blue. Read Less

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid LED strip Bought this for installation for my home bar, flimsy tape on the back didnt work so bought some clips and solved that problem. Biggest issue was once the item was installed the power supply began being difficult and eventually stopped glowing red. Upon checking the connections the Green did not work either, but flipped power supply over and it magically works. I chalked it up to a bad power supply, swapped the unit with a new one and has worked ever since. Lights are bright, enough length to light the back bar and wrap around the edge of the bar. Like I said solid purchase however install with some care. April 10, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lighting Just as most of the reviews, the strip lighting is awesome. Pros- Cost Efficient Bright lighting Great effects Multiple colors Cons- Adhesive I used this product to light the wine rack in my basement. I would definitely use this product for more things. I connected 2 of the 16 foot strips together and they both worked on the same controller. I enjoy the amount of colors there are. I was quoted over $300 on the same type of system from a specialty company and that didn't include multi colored lights. If you do purchase this product, be sure to purchase double sided tape as well. I did not adhere to the other reviews on here because I thought it would be a surface issue and ended up rehanging the strips with better tape. The 3M tape is just not strong enough to hold the lights. October 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great lights Very happy with product.. Colors are awesome and works well. September 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good overall value I needed lights for several projects and this roll was perfect for the job. The description clearly notes that the power supply is not included so everyone flipping out over that should take note that for about $10 more you can buy one that has the power supply included, that said, I need multiple power supplies since the roll will be used for more than one thing and for me this was ideal. Not to mention I have a 12VDC power supply or two. Though I will, for the sake of others doing similar projects, say that I am running a strip of only six LED modules off of a 9V (1A) power supply with pretty amazing results. It is a hair less bright but batteries that fit these specs are more common than the 12V 1-2A variety. January 9, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It's okay It's okay but I don't know how to work the remote - they don't give you instruction booklet. I know to do the solid colors but what is all the other stuff? April 17, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Work as advertised. Of course, doesn't have a power supply (don't know why it would be sold without) April 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Led lights I like these led lights they are very good, awesome January 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cool if it worked Ya so they sent it to me without a power source. But technically its ok, they didnt screw up, because apparently it doesn't come with a power source in the first place. Not quite sure what's the point of buying lights that can't plug in August 12, 2014
