How do I connect this, 3/4 inch NMLC to an existing rigid, 3/4 inch conduit? Do I use glue or is there a special adaptor fitting?
Asked by: Ted
There is not as a standard fitting that would meet NEC code. I have seen on boat docks and lift a combination of NMLT and rigid PVC and they took an rigid fitting and glued to a NMLT fittings.( Homemade) Again this was not code.

Can this fit a standard 3 prong outdoor extension cord ?

Asked by: WAM
Extension cords should never be used in "permanent" applications. They are designed for use in open air. Additionally, you won't be able to fit the plug end through this conduit, so you'd have to cut it and rewire it in order to do so. You can bury UF-type wire, which is much cheaper than this conduit OR an extension cord, directly in the ground. Observe your local codes and NEC for proper burial depth.

can you glue fittings to "AFC Cable Systems 3/4 in. x 25 ft. Non-Metallic Liquid-tight Conduit" ?

Asked by: Anonymous
The NEC requires that LFNC and its fittings to be listed. I am not aware of any glue type fittings that are listed for use with LFNC. Additionally, use of a glue type fitting not designed or listed for use with LFNC is also prohibited by the NEC and the glue can soften and denigrate the PVC. NEC: 356.6 Listing Requirements. LFNC and associated fittings shall be listed. 300.15 Boxes, Conduit Bodies, or Fittings —Where Required. A box shall be installed at each outlet and switch point for concealed knob-and-tube wiring. Fittings and connectors shall be used only with the specific wiring methods for which they are designed and listed. Where the wiring method is conduit, tubing, Type AC cable, Type MC cable, Type MI cable, nonmetallic-sheathed cable, or other cables, a box or conduit body shall be installed at each conductor splice point, outlet point, switch point, junction point, termination point, or pull point, unless otherwise permitted in 300.15(A) through (L).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Licensed Electrcian It sounds like the guy above needed to hire an Electrcian. I've used carflex (this is a trade name for non metallic pvc flex) many times and yes it can be really difficult to get wires through if they aren't taped tightly with a rounded head. But this goes for any conduit. Also this stuff due to the "sticky" nature of the flexible pvc needs to be kept straight while pulling wire to make it easier. But I can't give all the trade secretes away so I digress.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to work with. I installed the flexible conduit, when I tried to pull the wires through.(even using a wire puller) It was impossible the wire kept catching on the inside ribes of the flexible conduit. Then I disconnected the conduit from the box thinking it would be easier, but it was not. My suggestion get it pre wired.
