Is there a wire feed unit that will work with this welder if one wants to do shielded MIG welding?

I'm thinking of one of those spool-type feeders where the wire I'd on a small spool. Seem like it should work, eliminating the need for an additional MIG welder for small jobs.
Asked by: DFWKen
You theoretically may be able to make that work but this machine is not designed with that in mind.

Why does the price keep going up when its still unavailable online?

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: TL
yes, just like the answer below states. ahp does not control price fluctuation, it*s all done on homedepot side.

I thought I would need the pulsing features but so far I haven't used them. After some practice I was able to make very decent looking welds on 3/32 steel, Aluminum welding looks great as well. I attached a pad to foot pedal so it doesn't slide around the floor. The torch is light and flexible. I had the guy who sold the electrodes show me how to assemble it. I doubt anyone else would have a problem. In AC mode on aluminum The cleaning was great right from the start. As a novice welder I like that there are safety overides. I think this will be a welder I can keep for years. The low amperage settings have allowed me to weld thin stainless as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! This welder is truly amazing for the features and capability. Home Depot gave me a 15% discount making this a steal while honoring veterans. These are my first ever aluminum TIg welds and in two weeks (self taught) and utilizing welding tips and tricks.com I'm producing good quality 1/8th aluminum welds . I will save my self thousands on projects I can finally do myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good machine Great machine for the price and seems to be well made. I purchased this to Tig weld small jobs and hobby type stuff. It took me about 30 minutes to set up and I was Tig welding. I spent two years watching this product and finally decided to purchase the 2016 model. The only thing that I'm not a fan of is the foot petal but I knew that before I purchased.

I've owned this machine for approximately 6 months and have TIG welded both steel and aluminum and also tig brazed mixed metals (copper to steel etc) and various other metals such as brass and copper. As of this date I have not used the stick welder mode so cannot comment on it. but other reviews seem to be good regarding this mode. As far as tig, it's worked flawlessly with acceptable weld quality on both steel and aluminum. Setup and use is fairly straightforward. The available settings and controls are suitable for just about any materials within it's work envelope. I did purchase a smaller inexpensive 9 series flex torch for lighter/thinner work which also performs well at lower amp ranges. The foot petal included is fine and allows smooth power control and seems very well made. I've had no issues to date and can recommend the AHP Alpha Tig 200x as very good value for the cost when compared to other brands and models on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from modify the machine with "Tig Time" If you purchase the machine through Home Depot and get the warranty they offer they will get the machine repaired if needed. I went online to Tig Time and they offer some upgrades, such as foot pedal, flow meter, and dinse connectors for this machine. Through Home Depot and Tig Time you will get a great welder that will last you for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best price, great for the professional welder ,or novice welder good product easy to use, worked great on 120 volts or 220 volts , however lacks amp adjustment below 10 amps, for welding THIN metal. not much to say for the gas regulator, or tig torch that came with it , but overall good machine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for the price The welder does great. At the shop I work at we have a miller and lincoln high end tig welders. This one doesn't do as great as them but sure does the job very well. Looks pretty good and does well. No doubt it is a good machine. However it does have some major downsides. Unfortunately AHP does not know how to set it up correctly with the knobs so they are completely useless (for tig). The pedal overrides the machines knob settings so if you have a generic pedal with no limiting knob on it, then you will always go between 3amps - 205amps with the pedal no matter what the knob on the machine is set too. Also, the pedal is junk. Low quality and pointless. I modified a guitar effects pedal to work for it because the one it comes with is junk. You are unable to buy others as well since the connectors are different but that's what you have to expect when buying a foreign product. I would recommend getting it as long as you know wiring to be able to take it apart and rewire the internals so the knobs work. If not, then might want to consider spending extra money to have a fully functioning machine. Also, their support is pretty bad. AHP is a rebrand seller. They don't know how to support their own products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for the price The welder came complete with everything needed to get started except the gas. Would have spent twice the amount trying to buy something locally. The Home Depots here do not stock this item, so the Online store filled my need perfectly!
