Product Overview

Maintaining proper humidity levels between 30-50% in your home/office/workplace has been scientifically proven to help prevent the flu and allergies. Proper humidity hydrates your skin, alleviates dry eyes, scratchy throats and can reduce snoring. With a doctor's approval increased humidity can reduce asthma and allergy symptoms. Will this unit provide humidification for the upstairs and the main level or should I purchase 2 units?

If so would it be best to place the unit upstairs or downstairs? Both levels are about 1300sq feet each.
Asked by: TLBATZE
I would get 2 units.

Is this a warm mist humidifier or cool mist?

Asked by: Rose
The fan blows room air through the filter wick back out into the room. Much better than a cool mist humidifier

The wicks (also called filters) are substandard and quickly dry out at the top half. The only way to use this is to open up the humidifier every 12 hours and fully soak the wick in water and replace it. The top 1/3 will still dry out in only 3-4 hours (see photo). The company will stall you forever rather than simply replace the $16 wick, my guess is that they had a big production run from China that they're trying to get rid of. They also have a host of excuses ranging from "if you treat your water that invalidates the warranty" to "we suggest you use distilled water". The other excuse is to only use the lowest fan setting (still didn't fix the problem). I have a brand new unit and am getting nowhere after a week on the phone with these people. I think this would be a good humidifier if it had a decent wick. After a week on the phone, they still wouldn't send me a new $16 wick (each day there's a new hoop to jump through, after talking with two customer service people and then the customer service manager they said to call back and talk to the engineers for approval!. The irony is that I am a Mechanical Engineer myself and I kept asking to speak with their technical department and they kept saying they were out of the office. For three days they said to call back the next day and speak with their tech guys and somehow they're never there! Meanwhile, you would think that after giving me the run-around for a week they'd just hand over a wick out of, you know, "customer service"...instead they kept getting ruder. This is why I suspect they had a bad production run of wicks, they know that a replacement wick isn't going to change things. I have to say, I'm really astonished at their behavior. Btw, Carla was the customer service rep who kept giving me the runaround, Tina was the "manager" who clearly wrote all of a Carla's scripts. The two just kept interrupting me and repeating the same comments, irrespective of whatever I tried to say to them. Not fun....avoid this product until it's working again (!)

I ordered this unit along with a spare wick and bottle of humidifier bacteriostatic treatment. The unit performs well. Just set it on auto and the humidity level you want and it operates on it's own. Refilling the water tank is easy at the faucet. We use RO water. When the unit said to replace the wick, I just flipped it over and it continued to work ok. I think they should carry this unit in the store. I have previously used ultrasonic units and belt driven units and this humidifier is much better. I have had the unit for 3 1/2 months. At night, in our bed room, we use one of the small 1/2 gallon cool mist humidifiers, which is easy to refill. This bigger unit takes care of the kitchen, living room and hallway.

Only drawback is having to fill it about every 6-7 hours. I did discover you can fill the tank, let it deposit in to the machine, and immediately fill tank again. The water will deposit in to the machine when needed. This will buy you more time before filling again. Have been using this humidifier for about a month. Worth the numerous trips to the sink, to add much needed humidity to the air in the house!

It lives up to all claims in the description, and is better than I expected. Obviously, it holds a lot of water, so it will run a while without re-fill. The "Auto" setting works wonderfully - the humidistat controls the fan, and the whole unit works exactly as want it to all by itself - All I have to do is put water in it. A great product for the price!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does it's job, just be careful where you place it. Fantastic machine. Turned my house from a static cloud storm into a 55 humidity comfort zone. I got 2000 sq feet. BUT, at first I put it 6 inches away from a wall (like the instructions say is OK), and it wet my sheet rock enough it put long dents in it through saturation. Keep it at least 1 1/2 to 2 feet away from any sheetrock wall in my opinion. Great product for the price, though.

Unobtrusive unit effectively adds plenty of humidity to a dry living room; circulation tends not to extend beyond the room in which it's placed, but wasn't really expecting that. Keep an eye on the tank when the air is particularly dry! It may run beyond its capacity.

No problems so far and I have used it nonstop since before Thanksgiving. Bought it primarily to keep the humidity in my house stable for my hardwood floors. I have not had any problems with leaks as some other reviewers have had. I lay the container on my counter near my kitchen sink and extend the faucet hose to fill. Easy!! Then I carefully replace the lid and make sure it is really tight. (I use a rubber glove to remove this lid as I cannot do it barehanded. A rubber jar lid gripper would work also.) I hold a paper towel under the bottom as I carry it to the unit to replace it (do not touch the bottom with the paper towel as it would most probably leak if you accidentally push on it). I haven't had any problems with leaks! I generally fill it at least once a day and set it for a humidity level of 55 and put it on Auto, but on rainy days the unit runs very little if at all and may not need refilling. When you fill your unit for the first time fill the container, put it on the unit and let it empty completely into the base. Immediately refill the container and place it on the base unit before you turn it on.

It is effective and covers a large area. However, it does not have an easy-to-load tank or a lighted (or any) view of the water level from outside. The 'automatic' feature is supposed to turn on at the number set. However, it turns on and off at several intervals when the indicator is less than the number set. While it is not particularly noisy, it is not as quiet as advertisements would lead consumers to believe. All-in-all, it does its job, but for the cost, I would recommend doing more extensive research on other models before buying this model.
