how noisy is it on higher setting?

This question is from 6-gal. Evaporative Humidifier for 2,300 sq. ft.

I want a humidifier that will give me enough moisture in my bedroom at night without making so much noise that it keeps me awake. In the past, I've had humidifiers that didn't give enough humidity on the lower setting and were too noisy on higher setting. My bedroom is 11X16 but the apt. is VERY dry.

Thanks.

It's pretty loud on the higher setting. I definitely would not want it in the same room on high.
If you're only trying to humidify a single room it might do the job on the lower setting. On the other hand, you can put it in another room on the high setting and it should humidify the entire apartment.

Quite loud on high speed but not as noisy as other large humidifiers we have owned, Other then lacking a medium speed. (which is very annoying) This unit should work quite well in you bedroom on low speed, which is relatively quiet,.

No. This device is a huge water bucket with a filter and a fan, set on casters. I mean, if you're experienced enough to build your own float switch and valve, with complete confidence that you wont flood the building ... well, you wouldn't be asking that question. So, I'm left assuming you're hoping for something built in.

My house is 1600 square feet - 2000 square feet including the basement - and this unit cannot raise the humidity of my home to the "medium" humidity level when running on high continuously for 48 hours. It only stops running when I take a shower without the fan and leave the door open. It starts back up again an hour or two later and doesn't stop running again. This unit does work - the water level decreases significantly every day, and it lowers the temperature of the room it is in by several degrees due to the evaporation. It should work perfectly well for a large apartment. But if your home is an actual house, get something bigger.

No matter what I do, it doesn't recognize that the water is full. Now as for Customer Service -- someone was helping me, and then I got cut off. When I called back, I got a message saying they were gone for the day. I should have known better, I've bought Essick products before, and they all stink.

The Aircare product is far superior to the old Holmes design! The 3 Holmes humidifiers were used for many years before eventually failing in several ways. These two Aircare units each hold 6 gallons and the humidistat controls actually work preventing operation when not needed and extending refill time interval. Shut off is caused by low water or by reaching the humidistat control setting. The refill light lets you know which. The design is elegant and deceptively simple. They are not perfect, but are the best I have seen in products of this size and style. We are very pleased with both units and they serve a large home well. Minor issues: Water will leak out of the approx. 1/4" or 6mm hole at the back if you accidently overfill and the two level marks are very hard to see inside the unit and each is at a different level. Filling can be fast but requires care to avoid spilling on the front of the unit and on the floor.

I recommend putting this together before filling as the sides bow out and the water level float is difficult to line back up to the micro-switch which senses when you need to refill. It works and is worth what you pay for it, simple no hassle once its set up.

I really like this product, huge capacity which helps to avoid constant fill-ups. There are only two settings with the high setting being too loud to really use all that often. I have only used the low setting and it does product noise but not all that bothersome as it is about 10 feet from my TV and I can easily live with the extra hum in the background. It brought my humidity from 16% to easily mid to upper 30%s in about two days. It also shuts off when it reaches the desired humidity level which is nice. All around this is a great humidified for the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great job! Poor design. It does a great job but it's very hard to fill. There is a small hole in the back for overflow and you cannot see that hole when the lid is on it so you're only taking a chance. If you fill it while it's running you will take a shower. You have to take the lid off to fill it to the hole without overflowing it. The sides are so thin and flimsy it's hard to line the lid back up each time.
Date published: 2016-12-27
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! Simple humidifier works great! Easy to add water, two speed fan and adjustable humidity setting. Increased humidity in 1800 sq ft, one story house from 22% to 34% in less than two days. High speed fan setting a little noisy, but very effective in circulating air.
