how noisy is it on higher setting?

This question is from 6-gal. Evaporative Humidifier for 2,300 sq. ft.

I want a humidifier that will give me enough moisture in my bedroom at night without making so much noise that it keeps me awake. In the past, I've had humidifiers that didn't give enough humidity on the lower setting and were too noisy on higher setting. My bedroom is 11X16 but the apt. is VERY dry.

Thanks.

It's pretty loud on the higher setting. I definitely would not want it in the same room on high.
If you're only trying to humidify a single room it might do the job on the lower setting. On the other hand, you can put it in another room on the high setting and it should humidify the entire apartment.

VERY loud on the HI setting, but the LOW setting should easily be able to deal with most apartments. I use one on LOW for my first floor (28x28 open plan), and have another on LOW on the 2nd floor. I can't hear them when I'm in bed (door closed). The 2nd floor one more than keeps up and is usually waiting for the air to dry. On dry days the first floor can drop to the mid 40s. Quite loud on high speed but not as noisy as other large humidifiers we have owned, Other then lacking a medium speed. (which is very annoying) This unit should work quite well in you bedroom on low speed, which is relatively quiet,.

About equal to a standard box fan on the second to highest speed. Not too loud to handle, but not really "quiet". We actually like the white noise.

No. This device is a huge water bucket with a filter and a fan, set on casters. I mean, if you're experienced enough to build your own float switch and valve, with complete confidence that you wont flood the building ... well, you wouldn't be asking that question. So, I'm left assuming you're hoping for something built in.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mark C We use this in our greenhouse and it is awesome! 2 fan speeds, holds 6 gallons of water so we don't have to refill that every few days October 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase!! Have purchased several brands of humidifiers living up North because of low humidity and my Wife's constant problem with very dry eyes! This humidifier outdoes all my previous purchases! October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple, large volume, works This is a simple whole house humidifier with only a few moving parts, which means less parts to break. The base is basically just a tank while the cover is the fan. The cover fully removes which allows for the tank to be easily cleaned / washed through the season. Easy to assemble, fan is quite and the humidity dial appear accurate (compared to humidity readout on thermostat). I have this set up in the basement where we have a wood burning stove. Between the cold climate and wood burning stove, the RH in the house can drop to 30%, which causes skin and static issues. This humidifier, holding 6 gal, will help keep the RH around 40% where we like it and will not cost us an arm and an leg. Can easily add water w/out removing the cover. September 27, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great to have It is quit and with 6 gal of water it last almost a week before refilling June 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Humidifier Every winter I said that I would get a humidifier. It was so dry with the heat. Now, I finally have one. This is a space saving model. It has a 6 gallon capacity with a two speed fan and an auto humidistat. There is a filter/wick that cleans the the air before it is released back into the room. It was very easy to assemble. There were only a few parts to install. The casters on the bottom to easily move the unit around, then the wick and the float rod inside, and finally the motor/ fan assembly on top. Then it is ready to add water to the front reservoir. The booklet tells about humidity levels. The manufacturer recommends adding Bacteriostat Treatment with each water fill up and disinfecting with water and bleach. It is also recommended to remove scale buildup with water and vinegar. The wick should be replaced the beginning of the new season. August 25, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product for the Price! This humidifier does everything I needed it to do. The 3 different moisture levels make it easy to keep area the proper humidity you need. The extra large water resevoir is very convienant because you don't have to fill up as much as some of the other ones. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for older parent This unit can humidify a large area, has convenient features like automatic humidistat that turns machine off or back on at a certain humidity level, and a low water level warning light. The fan setting at low speed is very quiet. The best feature for Mom is that it can be filled from the front without removing a tank and it is on wheels so she can roll it up to the sink if needed.
