I cant believe these reviewer complaining about adding water to a HUMIDIFIER. That is how it HUMIDIFIES...period. That being said here is my review in one of the dryest homes in Minnesota. We recently switched heat from fuel oil to propane which has a lower BTU per unit. This means our furnace runs alot longer than the propane. We live in a 100+ year old restored home. Its very nice BUT gets VERY VERY dry...like 10% humidity and even sometimes 8 in the winter. That kills bugs and is extremely uncomfortable to the sinuses. Now we went to propane and the furnace had a water separator that removes the moisture and pumps it into our septic so the air gets even dryer. Talk about uncomfortable. So we were looking for a solution to our dry dry house. I went out and bought 2 of these units for a 2200sqft house. I was not messing around. I put one on the main level and one upstairs. Together they maintained 49% humidity. The main level will need refilling every 24 hours...thats 5 gallons in the air in 24 hours...that is impressive. The one upstairs needs refilling maybe once every 3-4 days. Having an infant in the house I feel I made a good decision. Instructions tell you NOT TO RUN SOFTENED WATER. The water level never gets above about 3/4" from the bottom and the one tank drains empty before the other one goes. The case feels like its engineered to be marginally thin but usable and the filling of the tanks is a little cumbersome (maybe a tank that is not quite so long next time ie...has refill point on end and side) so for that it gets a 4 in quality. Everything else including the simple control are excellent. I use 2 of these to successfully humidify a 2200sq ft desert of a house. I could probably get away with one but we get a very even moisture level. We even have a whole house humidifier that attaches to our furnace...it doesnt do squat.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jter Very satisfied with the unit
The unit looks good, has 4 different fan settings, digital readout of room humidity at the unit. The two water bottles are easy to fill, insert and remove. It has been very cold this winter and the unit has maintained about 40 to 45 RH when set on 45. It is easy to clean and under normal operation has less than 1 inch of water in the bottom. When I am away from home I set the fans (2 run together) on a higher setting to catch up if needed. More RPMs make more noise. On F1 it is very quiet. The single wick set is lasting all right. Expect to replace the set each season per instructions. My home is 2,700 SF.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Iceman Worst product I have purchased
I purchased my humidifier from Home Depot and upon unpacking discovered that NONE of the pieces that were suppose to be with the unit were there rendering the unit completely useless. I have had this situation in the past and a normal call to the manufacturer normally solves the issue. I contacted Carla Essick Air/Champion Cooler, Customer Service 800-643-8341. Carla assured me the parts were on the way. It has now been over 2 weeks and no parts. I have had email conversations with Carla who assured me the parts were delivered. Not sure who delivered them or to whom, but i never received them. I have since ordered the required parts to place the unit in service. However I would warn anyone from dealing with this company in the future.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by kammhron Pretty good unit but...........
The unit has some good features that I liked. The 5 gallon fillable water tanks are a plus. I love them. You don't spill water on your floor when filling. It seems to be efficient & cycles on & off as needed. The digital display is easy to read & program. The best speeds are low & medium, fairly quiet. High speed is unbearably loud! Sounds like hurricane coming through. I don't use it unless I go upstairs to bed & shut the door. You can't carry on a conversation with someone if you are near the unit in high speed. What were they thinking? The plastic parts are on the flimsy side but acceptable. It has 2 fans, which I thought I would like but it may not be that great on your electric bill. Hard to tell yet. The cabinet looks fine & it has casters that roll smoothly. On the whole it is a good unit for the price & has a good output I will keep it.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Suzy1942 Can't get lids open to fill tanks
As far as doing what it was designed to do, it's just OK. I am a senior citizen and find it just about impossible to get the lids off so I can fill the tanks. My middle aged sons even struggle getting them off. I think there is a design problem with the lids. Extremely noisy when set to automatic until humidity level is reached.. Fan is very quiet when set on F1. I have a 1750 sq ft home and it does not begin to lower the humidity in the other end of the house away from the family room where it is located.
At the moment I am unable to run it because I can not get the lid off in order to fill the tank. Humidity is currently 10%. Ouch!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ckgraphix Perfect size, and quiet.
The house has a wide open floor plan heated with wood stove. This unit is keeping the house at 30% humidity. It's tucked away under the open stairs about 10 ft from the wood stove. The environment is feeling warmer, has enabled us to cut down on the amount of wood used in this really cold winter in northern New York State. It's easier to fill than the old one we replaced that just had an open reservoir. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by IAjeeper Well worth the money
I bought online and had my brother pick up in store. Assembly was a breeze and having the two 2 1/2 gallon jugs makes filling easy. We placed the humidifier beside the cold air return in our dining room and our entire 2100 sq ft home feels better. We use only soft water and treat it with Holmes Humidifier Bacteriostat.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by raz96 Decent for large home
Bought this based off reviews for my 2,300 sft home. At first it takes about a day or two to get to your desired humidity on a high setting that is rather loud. After that though, it does a good job of keeping most rooms between 35 and 40% humidity on the low setting which is much quieter. The auto fan function is a bit annoying as it jumps from high to low constantly. Better of with the manual function. I have to fill it once in the morning and once in the evening. The one issue is that one of the two bottles does not always empty. I find I need to maneuver it a bit to get the water to come out and then its OK. Much better than having three individual ones in each bedroom. Another great feature is the child lock function. My two boys were intrigued but were not able to change any settings.
