Designer Series 5.7 Gal. Evaporative Humidifier for 3,600 sq. ft. is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 27.

During the set up, I discovered two broken pieces. A little guide piece inside lid and a pin that allows the door covering the right hand tank to open and close (the lid sits in place fine). However, I am not concerned about them. The rest of the unit is fine, though I would recommend better packaging, especially for the top components. I have only ran the unit on fan speed 1. It provides quite operation at all times. Usually it empties only 1 tank throughout the day. It has brought the humidity level in the house close to 40% depending on the weather outside. This is the first time I have gotten the humidity levels this high. I am very happy with the operation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice customer service Unit came in with a couple plastic pieces broke. Looked as though UPS probably dropped it Called manufacturer and new parts sent pronto. I see complaints of noise... well it is what it is. At this price you get no insulation between you and the fan so of course there will be noise. Performance is good. I have 2800 Sq feet and a bit drafty house built in 1994. So bringing my humidity from 31 to 47 in a few days was really better than I had expected. Nice unit, but, agree 3 or 4 speeds would be plenty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big mistake humidifier At first this humidifier worked just fine, but then, not only once, but twice the "float" stuck and I had water all over the floor. That is bad enough but then it went all over my HARDWOOD floors and RUINED the finish, and in addition, warped the wood! I wonder if Essick will pay for repair of flooring or if they will find a way to say we only do that in case of an apocalypse!!!! Don't buy this if you need to elevate humidity levels for hardwood flooring.

A little noisey, but has a night- time setting to help quiet it down. the plastic water containers are getting rougher on the the drain plug threads since our last one. Warranty has been improved to two years, from one. Usual, cheap clear plastic filler hose, with the black-ended faucet attachment.

I was skeptical because of all the bad reviews I had seen but bought in anyway as it's the modern version of my old humidifier. My old one worked well for many years and I liked it a lot. The new one isn't as flimsy as some reviews implied, nor is it as noisy. In both respects it is much the same as the old one and quite acceptable. Also, the tanks don't leak as some reviews said (although I did smooth off one or two small rough bits where the filler caps screws on before I started to use it, just in case). Regarding noise, I only ever use the lowest fan setting so don't care about noise at the higher settings. I have been using it for a month and it seems to work very well. I prefer the spring loaded water level indicators of the old one which would show me when each tank was empty. I used to fill each tank when it became empty, which meant the humidifier didn't stop running. The float mechanism of the new one only shows when both tanks are empty which means if I don't get to it immediately the humidity level in the room gets very low. I like the digital lighted controls. In general I'm very happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good humidifier but doesnt cover nearly like it says it does Set up was easy and operation is also easy. It really doesnt cover 2700 sq. ft. I have a 1 1/2 story house and the downstairs is about 2000 sq. ft. and running constantly it can only get the RH to 43% (and I do mean running constantly) as measured by a more sophisticated meter I purchased at HD The humidity level as measured by the humidifier itself is much higher than what my meter indicates. The "wicks" (boxy plastic frame with air filter looking material that wicks water from the bottom of the humidifier) really seem to be of good quality, many of these units have horrible wicks that droop when they get wet, the design of those that work with this unit are very sturdy. Also, there is no way that it puts 13 gallons of water into the air in a day. Nothing even close to that much. When I first set the unit up my homes RH was 23% and it put about 5 gallons of water in the air in 24 hours. Everything considered, its really a great unit. I cant say anything about how efficient it is at electric usage. I do like the 9 speed motor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from love it! i have owned several room humidifiers, and they are such a hassle. in the cold winter months the air in my house (1400 sq. ft.) gets sooo dry with electric heat. this thing is awesome! have had it all winter and it has done a remarkable job. it is a little loud on higher fan settings, but if i keep it filled and running, i can keep it on the lowest setting. I really can't imagine that it would work as well in a larger home, but for me.. one of the best investments I ever made
