Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by None Designer Series 5.7-gal. Evaporative Humidifier for 3,600 sq. ft.
I purchased this humidifier to replace a similar humidifier because the motor/fan on the old one died; however, this order arrived with the front panel damaged beyond repair, so I ended up taking it to my local Home Depot for a refund and purchased a different humidifier that works fine but does not hold as much water. Disappointed, for sure!

Had to give this a poor review across the board because it keeps arriving broken. I've received this twice and NOT trying a third time. Gave it a second try because of the great design. I was told that this product is available only online. The manufacturer and/or Home Depot needs to work on packaging and handling for this product.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by David Not as good as I expected
Well first off, the humidifier arrived not fully functional. The fan has 9 speeds, but strangely on every speed except 1 and 9 the fan makes a very unhealthy sound. I have ordered another on homedepot.com and am awaiting its arrival. Hopefully that one will function with no issues. As far as the humidifier itself: the quality is good enough, and the output is ok, not great but ok. I live in New Hampshire, I have a forced hot water baseboard heating system, and my upstairs where I have it running is about 1300 sq ft with 25% of the space being cathedral ceiling. Constantly running on high (speed 9) the unit is keeping the house just barely comfortable (39% at 70°), but I could definitely use some more water in the air. The outdoor conditions have been 50% at 33°.
The digital RH% readout on the humidifier is a joke, and the humidistat function of keeping the space at the desired RH% set by me does not work properly. My house is 70° and the RH% is 39%, I have the humidifier set at 55%, and the unit comes on for 30 seconds then shuts off. Two minutes later it comes on again for 30 seconds and shuts off again......disappointing. So I leave the unit on high (fan speed 9) set at 65%, so it constantly runs. And yes, it is noisy on high, but any fan running on high speed is going to be noisy, that's a given. Unfortunately I can not set it to "medium", because it makes a really bad sound on speeds 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Also, I had thought that the humidistat would work like the climate control in my car and automatically turn on the humidifier when needed at one of the 9 "variable" speeds, but this is not true. It will turn back on at whatever speed you had it set at. This is a bummer because let's say you left your house for a couple days, came back home to empty water tanks, filled them, and the unit turns itself back on, it will not turn itself on high to bring the house back up to the desired RH% as quickly as possible, then eventually level off. I had thought that was part of the "variable 9 speed fan" with humidistat?
I own a SERVPRO and have a $850 Vaisala HMI-40 Thermohygrometer (the best in the industry), so I know the actual atmospheric conditions. I tested the output of the unit on several days and it is putting water into the air, but not as well as the old console humidifier I had for years that I threw away last spring. The main reason why I purchased this exact humidifier is that it has an external filter which will help filter out particulates, thus keeping the water (wicking) filter cleaner. That's a big plus. I don't have pets, and it's not a HEPA filter, but the less organic matter that gets into a wet filter the better !! This was the only humidifier that I could find that has the extra filter, and this is the only reason why I ordered this same make and model humidifier again to replace the broken one I received.
So the unit looks ok, it's smaller in physical size than the (old) console humidifier, and it does put some water in the air. But I would purchase instead a humidifier that has a correctly functioning humidistat with a true variable speed fan for twice the price, if I could find one.
My review is 3 stars (average). This is based on the manufacturers poor quality control for sending me a unit with a broken fan/motor/housing that they obviously never tested. I have always liked Home Depot, and this average review is not a reflection on Home Depot.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nothankyou Works like a charm
Easy to assemble. Easy to use. Not too loud. Keeps 3 rooms where outside humidity is 30% at 60% with no issues. Only have to fill the tanks every other day.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by SAMP I was delivered broken product, MORE THAN ONCE!
First purchase: humidifier didn't work. So I returned it. Second purchase: it worked, but the lid to the water container was broken. Since the product worked, I kept it anyway. As it turned out, one humidifier wasn't enough for my 2300 sq ft condo, so I purchased another one ... Third purchase: humidifier didn't work. Again returned it. I am waiting for delivery of my FOURTH one. The only reasons I'm ordering a fourth one is because I like the design/finish ("stainless steel" appearance), and I ended up keeping the second one I ordered, so I want to keep the same design. Needless to say, I'm disappointed by the product, and rather surprised that Home Depot would deliver products that flat-out don't work.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rick Unit works very well. Only complaint I have is it arrived broken.. I repaired the lid and it works well.
Unit works very well. I wanted something that didn't need re-filling everyday. That was my main reason for purchasing this unit. I am very pleased with it. Wish it had a automatic night time fan speed, Need to crank up the TV in evening.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CObubba Does the job well - provides humidity control and looks good doing it
Purchased several weeks ago, so no long term data yet, but living in Colorado we needed to add humidity in a townhome. The unit arrived quickly and was quick to assemble and start using. The two 2.6 gallon tanks are relatively easy to fill and provide plenty of water - I check them daily and have to refill one every day or so. We use the Essick Bacteriostat treatment and so far have not had buildup in the unit. Controls are very readable and easy to adjust. Happy so far with the function and output.
